    May be you have added sitemap as a mobile sitemap? You should add to webmaster tools as a general web sitemap.

    Sorry for not including since it is non standard. I am using a site map index file to then point to the individual site map files.

    The file that is submitted to Google is:

    http://www.duimc.com/googlesitemapindex.ashx

    Also, Google downloaded the site map 1 hour ago with NO errors. Yea!

    Hopefully this is now fixed (although about three days ago it was also downloaded with no errors from Google only to have errors every day thereafter.)

    That is not the problem. It is added as a general web sitemap which is why it is so odd the Google is throwing an error for a mobile tag.
