Why don't you explain here why? rather than pointing us to to other url....

 

Pagerank is important to people who use it to make money by selling links. Stop trying to whore your site and realize people can use it for more than just SERPS.

 

Gee, I might read more if it weren't a resent article. Obviously, someone has a vendetta.

 

Google said it is important. It should be important.

 

I dont own that site for your information. Please refrain from using abusive language. Let me just tell you that i have 3 site with page rank 3 which pull in 3 times more traffic than one of my other site with a page rank 6.

My suggestion from my own experience is that people are focusing so much on page rank that they forget other strategies of getting traffic to their sites

People equate Page Rank to more traffic which is necessarily not the case

I guess the guys who are making money out of this are the ones who sell text links based on the PR of their sites

The only thing I use PR for, is to check if my sites are going up or down. I don't care if my site goes from PR2 to PR3 or from PR7 to PR8, they're going up. That means that I am not doing anything wrong.

 

Page rank IS important, and all these annoying threads people start trying to explain why PR doesn't matter are a waste of time. If page rank wasn't important, why does Google update it at all?

How much can you sell a page rank 6 or 7 site for? How much can you make from advertising? Enough said.

 

Of course PR is important.

Its an easy way for google to quantify and demostrate how important they deem your site to be from the links pointing to it.

Clearly it is not as important as it used to be in terms of SERP's but what webmaster would be happy to see their site lose PR? Not me for sure.

 

PR is important, but its a 'bit' overrated. People say its not important, but whats important is how many hits they get, or how much money they make. These things are important, but they tend to coincide. PR is important - to an extent

 

You cant just write "google page rank isnt important..."

Would be better titled as "someone thinks google page rank isnt important"

 

Pagerank as the concept used by google is extremely important. It's basically what sets google apart... but is the public update that important? It's nice to know your pagerank, and see it go up, but it's always being calculated, and there's other interesting stuff you can watch on a more frequest basis, like SERPs and traffic. I think it's just the wait.. that builds anticipation.

Does going from PR2 -> PR6 tell you anything you didn't know? You obviously built links, probably rose in the serps, probably increased your traffic.. it's just one minor consequence of your work. Nice to see yes, but it's more like the effect of actions, not the source.

 

If PR is not important to google SERP result then may google remove this from their system.

PR is important for link exchange.

good PR = Link Exchange = Backlink = good SERP position

 

The current State IMO is ...

Pagerank is EXTREMELY important if you sell products to webmasters or if you want webmasters to sell products for you as affiliaites.

Yes it stinks ... but webmasters thought it was a good idea to let Google do this ... now it's a problem. But that's besides the point.

 

I dont know about the moral of the story. I do however know that I'd never take anyone writing a article that include smileys seriously.

Page rank is a simply way of judging a web sites popularity

it is as simple as that

 

my site just launced on Jan , I get a PR 4 ? is that good enough

 

Exactly , Many people consider buying links if page rank is above 4.
