ok, first off allow me to say this: i have started the online marketing with the "Bum marketing method", ive put no money into it at all yet, so im working with free resources. Now, im novice to this, but have managed to see some results (200 bucks since i started actually trying, which is about 1 1/2 months into it) im slowly getting the hang of it i think, but i have a request: i would like some tips, if someone with experience in page ranking and whatnot could speak with me and give me some pointers to what im doing wrong my problem is that, one of my top sellers (at least i believe its my top seller) articles gets roughly 25 views a day, half of them being from the site i posted on (hubpages) and the other half from msn/yahoo/live search, google doesnt like me lol. however, since i made this article i noticed there is a user on there who has managed to be on page1 to page 3 of every search engine ive used (hes targeting the same keyword as me) and i just cant figure out how he did it. If anyone would be willing to help me out, please let me know, im not asking you to do work for me, i just need some pointers
Is the headline of your article wrapped in H1 tags? Does your main keyword appear towards the beginning of the headline? Does your main keyword appear around 2-3% of the article? Do the ALT tags of any images in your article have your main keyword in them? Are other relevant websites linking to your article? Do other articles on your website link to this article when relevant? Do you have subheadlines (wrapped in H2 tags) featuring the main keyword? These are all things that might help you rank well in Google.
1. wtf is an H1 tag? header? as in the first header? if so, then yes 2. yes it does 3. uhm, i think so, it appears at least once per paragraph, totaling at 10 uses of my keyword (keep in mind this is a single short-ish article, is that a problem?) 4. not for the most part, ive submited my link via comments to other sites (is this considered bad manners? :S) but im sure they have nofollow tags 5. huh? now when u say "h# tags" im guessing i dont, cause i dont know wtf an H# tag is :S
If you wrap your headline in <h1>Your headline title</h1> Code (markup): it tells the search engines that that's important text on the page. Also, make sure your URL has the main keyword in it.
ohhh....hey thats a great start, new information for teh dragn! (thanks guys, in all seriousness) as far as the URl goes, since im using hubpages its www.hubpages.com/__________ and yes, my keyword is in there, but will it work still since its main domain is hubpages? question: which one is considered header 1? *Edit* after a bit of looking at the page source, there are already H1 tags put into my header, i guess hubpages does this by default
