Black Hat SEO - a group of experienced search engine optimization experts that wear black hats. Grey Hat SEO - a group of younger and older search engine optimization experts that wear both black and white hats. White Hat SEO - a group of experienced search engine optimization experts that wear white hats. I think most new SEOs are grey hats and experience SEOs are white and black hat SEOs. I'd draw you a Venn Diagram but I don't have a pen. Honestly though - Black hat SEOs basically do things that game the search engines - they like GREAT INSTANT results. Grey hat SEOs use some tactics that Black Hat SEOs use but try not to get noticed and when you ask them they swear that they're white hat SEOs. They do white hat SEO tactics too - they walk the line White hat SEOs diligently work to optimize websites while adhering to the rules of the Googler.
As far as i know, Black hat seo - unethical seo techniques White hat seo - ethical seo techniques I don't know grey seo techniques...
I've also seen the term blue hat, is this another one that would fall into the grey category or is it just pick a colour time.
I can never really see a consencus on this. Some people say black hat involves cloacking, automated link spamming and scrapping. Others say to buy a link is black hat. There really seems to be a wide range of opinion at where the line is drawn. I think to google, anything that does not rigourously adhere to policy is black, they dont seem to see a grey. At the end of the day, I think a big issue is what quality are you giving your audience. Surely if your giving the sort of quality google wants to see at the top, you would be forgiven for some more minor transgressions?
Black Hat - spamindexing etc.... methods which have been defined by Google as n violation f the Google “Quality Guidelines†...and may lead to site being removed frm google index.... White hat - genuine.....not violating any ethics..... methods..NOT being contrary to the spirit of Google’s expressed quality....desires... Grey Hat - methods....which r considerd bad by som n not by many such as...cloaking, paid links, duplicate content etc dats vat i thnk it is.... hope dat helps
The way I see it black hat techniques are in fact white hat techniques taken to the extreme. Take sub domains for example. If you have 3 or 4, you're white hat, if you have 20-30, you're gray hat, when the number reaches several millions all of them complete with autogenerated spam content, you're the king of black hat.
