The title, well got you looking didn't it? Well I have often slated Vista like here, however I just got my new Laptop and I have to say I am slightly more impressed. Although I am still having a few problems with application compatability I have to say that it's now running quite smoothly, even although it does blue screen ever so often I am hoping with the release of SP1 that this will be a thing of the past and I may as well hold on since the release is probably about a month away. As for my desktop, well that staying with XP Professional for now. My desktop is more powerfull then this laptop, however it's just perfect with XP, if they perfect Vista on my laptop then I might buy it for my PC, lets see how it goes is my current approach. As far as I can see though so long as you have 2GB+ of ram and a dual core processor, it runs smoothly. On my previous aptop it ran, however that one worked far better with XP, this one works better with Vista and performance is quite good. All the bad publicity for Vista has appeared because blogs are more common now then they were when XP was first released. Hey i'm actually going to give Microsoft a chance to prove me wrong, bring on SP1... Vista is not perfect and I am one of those people who hasn't really been happy with it, that is until now. I think they were expecting everyone to rush to the stores to buy new computers, however nobody did. I am just hoping Windows 7 will not require a major upgrade.
I don't have much experience using Vista -- but I've talked to people that use it that have had nothing but problems with it. I am currently enjoying XP... it's mostly a matter of preference. Andrew
Personally, I find Vista as it stands today faster, and on par with XP in terms of stability and reliability. I've had not one problem with it since I installed it over 2 months a go.
No doubt i will have to have it eventually but that can wait until i purchase a new machine i am not in any hurry to be on intimate terms with vista.
