Has anyone else reviewed other reviews that have bought on other sites?

Interesting. Honestly, it seems like a wash. His site has just become a big paid reviews archive... but you got enough sales to cover the cost? Not bad...

taylor - I agree his blog is just full of paid reviews, but he must be doing something right in order to have so many readers. I say good luck to the guy... I'm not sure if it will last that much longer doing what he currently doing, but who knows.

$1.91 per click. There are cheaper ways of getting traffic from Adwords, but then again because JC has a lot of readers that like what he does, they also have confidence in what he reviews and therefore if he writes about a product or service then his readers will probably believe in it as well, which was probably a reason for some sales.

It's kind of sad that if John Chow says "jump" you get thousands of people "jumping" :)

That was very interesting. Based on that, it looks like it may not be worth it for me to pay for a review there. I have a review pending on the Tyler Cruz blog, so I am a little anxious now to see how that will do!

I'm extremely surprised that it only brought you 850 somewhat visitors. I've seen several other people post their review of the service, and they had well over 3,000 unique visitors on the first day alone.

Interesting read "Eggy". Thanks for the heads up on this. I was thinking about doing something like this but after reading your experience I will continue with my usual efforts. At least I know they work!

    Regards,

Thanks for everyones comments and feedback.

The stealthy one - I have had a review by Tylor Cruz - Maybe I should write a review on that review? If people are interested, I'm prepared to do it. Basically Tylor offers much more hands on advice, and good advice at that. The sad thing was the amount of traffic he sent me - very little. I'd recommend ordering a review via Tylor before you order any others as you can take take his advice on board and implement any good suggestions/advice before others will rip you apart :)

Chant - thats for the rep mate!

MOG - I'd be really interested in finding out how your review goes... please keep me posted :)

Rich User - You need to bare in mind that other services/products may differ from mine. From my own experience, I'd say that if you product/service was very cheap, then you would peraps recieve more traffic - I come to the conclusion that John Chow readers are dreamers... i.e - they prefer to watch John making the money rather than making money them selves (although saying that I do read John's blog from time to time so they are not all dreamers hahaha)

mikey - Alexa is BS, install Google Analytics for monitoring.

Cheap SEO - What are your usual efforts? I'm keen to hear :)

I know alexa is BS, but its a good measure of webmaster traffic. I had analytics on the site at the time, and got around 1000 unique visits in a day like you did.

great article! Good to hear that you made your money back, but I seriously expected more traffic. I guess the site is flooded with reviews and people just don't read them any more.

    Chris:

Agreed that most of JohnChow.com's commenters are dreamers. Don't mind them. If you're happy with what you do and make money doing it, why worry about the opinions of some lousy wannabe-webmasters?

The way I see it is if you're blog is your main source of income online, you suck. Most of the commenters on JC's blog simply want to traffic from the comment.

$450 for a review is expensive, but the target audience is perfect. I just wish John Chow was the sole person who made the reviews.

Wow $450 on a paid review. I don't know, but 15000 visitors sounds good :)
