How Much Content For $100 a Day?

Hey guys I have a question, I hope that somebody can help me.

This is the year that I want to earn at least $100 dollars a day, my plan is to build 1 content website that relies on search engine traffic (mostly) and word of mouth.

I have $5,000 (my savings) in cash and my business plan is:

    1. Find a niche with not a lot of competition but it is high paying.
    2. Buy 500 word articles about the niche.
    3. Place them in the site, and do all of the required on site seo.
    4. Spend around $250 building links using article directories, website directories etc.

My question is, how many 500 word articles would I need to achieve this?
if we are talking just search engine traffic from Google, Yahoo, MSN.

I know its hard to say, but I see content sites being sold for $100+ dollars that have 5-6 articles with 500+ words each and I always wondered how much money can those type of sites make.

Can anyone post here your experience with content sites and your results. I do not care about the $5,000 as long as I can see a positive result in the long run, I know it will take time for the search engines to index my unique content and rank it but I want to know
How many pages of content does a site need to make $100 bucks a day

    Thanks

I am currently developing a content based website on my niche, and i have come to the problem after writing about 40 articles my self about 200-400 words each that i am running out of articles and tutorials to write. This is probably just me being a bit blank and not thinking out side of the box enough but still.
There will be a limit to how many you will be able to write on your niche and this is something you may want to take in to consideration when choosing a niche market, as you said you would like to rely mainly on search engine traffic.
I would say approximately 40 articles is a great start, but thats a major estimate as many factors come in to this.
Please make sure that you research everything you buy though, i know you say you dont care about your 5 grand, but i would not like you to spend money on a directory submission which never submits your url. You can get free software which you can use yourself to submit your URL, and for starters this is ok.
I would not say its the amount of content that would make you 100 dollars a day more the traffic and secondly the target of traffic by this i mean if they are targetted on your niche. If they are and you have not bought any traffic TIP: dont buy traffic, then you could make 100 dollars a day through having a nice layed out website with say 20 articles all written extremely well with keywords in them to maximise search engine results and with a good focus on website monetizing with in the website.

If you want to know more, or if you need any advice you can read some articles here for SEO and Marketing

Or PM me i am happy to help.

    Will.

I usually build 10-20 page sites, usually after 3-4 months I see the revenue come in, it really depends on the niche, if you go fo a higher paying niche you can earn even more.

Does anybody have experience here with content sites?

We all know that traffic = $$ but he is asking how much content or pages a site would need to get enough search engine traffic to make $100 a day, I think it is a pretty valid question.

Yes you can make an image hosting site or a proxy but those are not content sites, image hosting sites rely on referal traffic.

From my experience like I said before a 20-40 page site will generate something betwen $2-$5 dollars a day, depending on the competition of the niche. For example I own an acne site that has 5-6 pages, each page has around 500 words and makes $.50 (+-) depending on the day, and this usually comes from 1-2 clicks, but note that acne is a HIGHLY competitive niche.

$100 a day from search engine traffic?

Try it for a few months and see how it works for you.

Word of mouth? That's more realistic.

Don't blow any money on content. Just get people to sign up to a forum and get them to post it for you ^_^

I have tried this before, and for me it has been very hard to get forums off the ground.

I also think that a quality article ranks better than a forum post, I do searches all the time and I rarely get results from forums.

Can anyone give me any advice on my original question, I still have no idea how much content would I need to make $100 a day with search engine traffic.

There is no one answer to that question, it really depends on how the site is monetized and how it is marketed. It is possible to make $100/day with a 5-10 page site if the 5-10 article are unique and high quality and the affiliate ads on the site are high converting.

On top of the content on the site, I would also buy/write more articles and submit them to article directories like ezinearticles.com and point back to your site. Just make sure your resource box is creative and makes people click thru to your site. Then make sure your site will convert the visitor.

I say that it is workable to make 100$ a day. But i advise you don't risk and try it for a few month and you see the result.
    Good luck.

I make around $100 a day at the moment and while my site has around 40 pages, 99% of the traffic lands on the homepage and only a small percentage go to other pages.

So I would say that it is quite hard to work out how big a difference those extra 39 pages make to my SEO efforts.

I just managed to find a good niche with only a few really competitive sites and it pays around $0.30 a click too!

I did spend more than $500 in links though...in fact i still have subscription links costing me around $125 a month.

Stuff wasting your time on Search Engine traffic. It can be good when you're site or blog has reached a certain level but in my experience there are far better, quicker and easier ways to get good traffic.

You'll also get more. By focusing the majority of your time on SE traffic your just relying on what people search for then they need to actually click on your link then you have quite a high bounce rate from most traffic. Unless you plan on spending a good amount on PPC ads which I have no experience in but I imagine would bring you good traffic I wouldn't worry too much about organic SE traffic.

It'll come over time. But just focus on building a unique, well structured resource or service.

Don't bother wasting money on content. You should write it yourself, good, unique content. From your own brain! on a topic you are passionate about. Knowledgeable is a plus but passion in itself can set you off.

Just create great content and use the $5,000 purely for marketing. You can get a lot of very well targeted traffic for that.

jon2k, so you are talking more about paying for links on other sites? or more like paying for banner space? or old fashion marketing like magazines and radio?

I think a level of specifics might help.

    Thanks

One thing that has helped me is forums...for two reasons. one, i agree Pixy, that sometimes writing is tough when you have exhausted your initial oomph.

So forums do two things..one hopefully bring some traffic from your replies. Your replies (again, true replies with appropriate content) are like mini articles and therefore easier to write.

Two, because these then spark ideas for full lenght articles to put onto your site. Develop some of your response into full length articles because you already know people were interested (they posted in the first place) and if your advice was well received, you know the advice was relevant and worthy of notatin more permanently.

To make it more specific, when i have posted full articles I see burst traffic, same with sites like stumble, burst. but with forums, I can hit more topics quickly and the traffic trickles but it steady. I always see a direct relation to the amount of time i forumed with the amount of new visits to my sites on that topic.

    Good luck..

It's not really the amount of content, it's more so the quality of the content and how valuable it is to the visitors. If your visitors can take a lot of info. from your articles and your articles are packed-with quality advice, chances are good that you will earn a lot more money in a shorter period of time.

    Best wishes,

    Andrew
