I have an ecommerce site and do all functions - product entry, customer service, etc. I also do all of the seo for now. I currently have 3 blogs, write a couple of ezine articles and, post in directories and comment in forums. My question is, with a lot of hats to wear, what are the best SEO functions I should do and how often.
I would start doing the stuff you only need to do once (such as using seo friendly urls). After this I would start keyword stuffing and building links...
I was in the same boat for about five years. I think best bang for my buck in terms of SEO was to make sure my on-page stuff was really dialed in for my product pages to pick up the long-tail stuff - that's where conversions were the best because when people are comparing specific product models, they're about to buy. I made sure I had 3 or 4 related products on each page to distriubute PR too. Next best thing was creating optimized brand pages and doing link campaigns for those pages. I don't know if you carry brand-centric products, but I got a lot of traffic from creating landing pages optimized for my brand names. I used to set aside a couple of hours every afternoon to do SEO work and I constantly grabbed links where I could. Sounds like you're doing things right, so just keep at it and it'll pay off.
As for me, make sure what keywords you would like to target you will start there and everything will follow
