I need to figure out how to take a folder with about 200 JPGs, and record a macro in Photoshop that will do a "save for web -> GIF 256" on all of them...I cant seem to find info on how to do this (plus I've never done it before), anyone who can let me know gets a green rep :)

I don't have a specific action tutorial on how to do this, but here's something that should get you started (the basics anyway):
    http://mintyferret.com/photoshop/reflection-action-automate-photoshop/

Basically what you need to do is set up the actions palette, and start recording. Save your jpg as a gif 256, then close it. Stop recording, then go to automate-->Batch and apply the action to everything in your folder. I suggest practising it on a different folder first, in case you mess up all your images!

thanks guys, I'll try this out! I had to put this task off for awhile.

I guess I'll make a copy of the folder and do a test run. I'm using CS1, by the way.
