Photoshop amateur question (centering text)

    I have a Photoshop amateur question. How do I center a text object?

    Let's say that I have the canvas width 200px. Let's say that I have this text object 'Hello World.' How do I center 'Hello World'? Right now, I'm just moving left and right, but there is surely a better way?

    one way is , Press ctrl+x to cut the text and then press ctrl+v to paste . Text will be on ceter position :)

    Make sure the text box is as small as the text (and that center align is on for the text).

    Select your entire canvas (Marquee Tool).

    Then click the 'Move Tool' and select your text layer. You should see these things:

    Align horizontally and vertically.

    You can also make sure the text is 'center aligned' in the text box.
    Ctrl+click the text layer in your layers menu. Ctrl+click the background layer then use this menu:

    which will now be highlighted.

    Hi, This is how I do this.

    In this case we will move the text to the center relatively to the canvas(background).

    1) Select the background layer. Make sure that it is the current editable layer. This will be indicated by a brush icon next to the layer name.

    3) Click on the empty little box next to the text layer. A chain icon will appear as seen in the picture below.

    4) Click on the "Align horizontal centers icon".
    [​IMG]

    5) Lastly, Click on the "Align vertical centers". Then click on the chain icon next to the text layer again so that it disappears.

    There you go, mate. This technique can be applied to any element. It also can be applied for multiple elements on canvas. Feel free to experiment with the other placement icons.
