Turning 36 and with lots of injury, can he help the sun? What's your opinion on this? Will he make the Suns better?

Nope. The suns have given away two young in form players to gain one out of form old player. A very bad trade. Shaq is past it.

I think it was a great trade. Im from phoenix and every year the suns dont make it to the finals because they dont have a big man. I dont know how many years shaq has left, but if we win it all this year, then its worth it

Shaq is no longer the dominant force he was at one point. He's a decent Center, but hurt every year. Chances are, Suns will play several games without him this year, and he won't be a huge factor in the playoffs this year if he does play. Other centers are catching up with him, heck, some would argue he one of the top 3 centers of all time, but I no longer consider him the best center in the game anymore, maybe not even in the top 5.

the trade make sense. Marion is eating up minute from Diaw and Hill. and he force Amare to play 5.

and in the playoff they need someone to hold Yao or Duncan, shaq can squeeze 20 minute a game to bang around

and you don't need 5 man to run, so i don't think they will slow down

however, why don't they try to get jermaine oneal instead

    Your argument holds merit.

But this isn't the same Shaq.

Hes older now. And a lot less mobile.

Shaq is a big disgrace, how can someone that great only average 7 rebounds per game? He lacks heart. Lakers made a great move keeping Kobe and getting rid of Shaq

    Agree with that.

But from what he has achieved lacking heart and motivation is normal.

Hes getting old and has already done so much.

Still has so much potential though.

Jermaine is the better deal, or Kirilenko, both can run/block/defend

his body is too old for basketball these days. With that weight you have to exercise alot and that becomes harder the older you get. I think he's past it. he should retire with his reputation intact.

Me thinks Shaqs divorce took a lot out of him. You add the emotional drain of that to the fact that his body was breaking down on him and its a recipe for disaster. That being said I remember reading a couple years ago that Marion wanted out of Phoenix

I can't believe the Suns have traded away Marion. The Suns have been one of my favorite teams for years and Marion has been their most impressive player. Plus, I've never liked Shaq. Grr!

Marion was better then Shaq :) but Suns can't win against Spurs in play-offs so they need to change something. And the first thing is to get a high man to play against Tim Duncan.

Anyway, NBA sucks, all those black guys are creating show for fat Americans, who do not understand real basketball. Euroleague RULES

I think its a great trade for the Suns and im a Laker fan.

The Suns have gone nowhere with Marion and with him and Amare up front, they are to small to compete with Gasol and Bynum of the Lakers or the Spurs or Jazz. Marion is only 6-7

I think Shaq has more left in the tank then many think. He was averaging 14 points on 58% shooting this year with Miami and thats on a bad team where he had to create majority of his points. Now he gets to play with Nash, where he will get a lot more high percentage scoring opportunities.

He also improves there low post defense against Tim Duncan. Shaq has always defended Duncan well in the low post without needing double team help.
