Viewing the reason behind others' reputation

Is it possible to see how another user's reputation is based? e.g. the comments, the approvals/disapprovals/etc.

It's hard for a n00b like me (still) to figure out why someone's got a bad rep on the surface and this would be a pretty easy way to figure it out.

There is no way to do this.

Even the person themselves can only see their last five reps.

And, of course, most of the red reps I get have no explanation at all attached to them.

It is best not to take the rep system too seriously. It's just for fun. :)

Rep is private, so it's not possible.

Some very nasty people have lots of green; some very nice people have very little green.

If I keep this avatar, I soon won't have much green at all. :D

You can always go thru the previous post of someone to get an idea of why they may have a bad reputation ... and then make up your own mind. Some people are just clumsy in forums, a red rep is not always an indicator that the person can't be trusted. It should be rather treated as a sign to be aware :)

Added: But it would be neat to have an option of giving a reason (multiple choice) when giving a rep (such as "stupid comment", "scammer", "spam" and such)

Okay, this is ironic. Apparently, someone gave me a bad vote for one of the posts I made here, with no explanation.

Come on now, who hatin'? :p

The explanation is that people are stupid. :D

I just greened you, so you should be even again.

I just got another red rep in this thread with the description "avatar!!!!"

Luckily, stupid people are in the minority here at DP.

Also lucky is that these people are a half a world away, so they aren't burning down my house like it was a Pakistani KFC.

I like when stupid people are in the minority. I like it better when they're non-existent, but that's a utopia, and utopias are non-existent. :)

Thanks, dude. Much appreciated. And I smell chicken. :D

By the way, that avatar ROCKS!
