I'd put it in the bank and live off the interest

Stocks are a lot more riskier than buying an established business especially with the volatility that we have now in the markets.

I don't know where you live but here in US on the interest from $50,000 you won't be able to even feed yourself for a year. And you definitely can't live off it.

If you buy a BIG company stocks and keep it for say 3-4 months you will surely hit some profit mark, even though it will not be much, but surely it will be more than what you get it from the bank.
any investment is risky,so its all depend on the one that is investing it.
if you are ready to take risk of having a stock for 3-4 months then go ahead or else don't waste money in forex or any online things unless you know it very well.

just my 2 cents & my Humble suggestion.

Just to clarify, I was hoping to get your views on what type of established online business would you consider investing in, if you had some money to invest.

Example: forums vs. ebooks vs. myspace sites vs. humor sites vs. ETC.....

I'm looking for something that can bring a relatively stable income where I can break even on investment in 1 - 2 years.

Invest in building a huge social networking site, targted to a specific niche group , throw about 10k-12k in advertsing online and OFF hire freelance writers to blog, article market write press releases to promote, then sit on it for 2-3 years then cash out (sell it to a big dawg for x,xxx, xxx) my opinion

I would invest in a company that has the technology solution to bypass e-mail image blocking. Then that company would lead the bulk e-mailers in providing clients with the exclusive ability to send their image based e-mails to recipients, greatly improving spam filtering (image based text replacement) and click-thru.

    I would say nothing of

forums vs. ebooks vs. myspace sites vs. humor sites vs. ETC..... that's probably all bs (anyway sites we all see in DP and SP very often) except ETC , lmao

Go for some other industries, let's say site about cars, dogs, etc. with a lot of content (even if updates need often). Not a blog. So something like that. Unfortunately such sites are mostly "under the table" and not appears for sale often. They are quality and established.

    Same as any business
    Look for a niche
If the niche was any good no one will tell you.
You need to be looking for say 10 niches
running for a year, and then dropping the non performers
