For those following the contest, this blog comment from one of the SEO experts is pretty funny:

Apparently, the author doesn't realize that Google updates continuously: see http://www.mattcutts.com/blog/whats-an-update/

Congrats Jim as you were quoted quite a bit in the article that will run in tomorrow's (Wednesday, 2/15) Wall Street Journal. Best one was Jim making a play for a PR8 link from the WSJ "If you link to me in your article, that would be very nice" - love it! ;-)

Article mentions that charity sites were competing, but no mention of mine or anybody else's - shucks! :-(

Some commentary and links at the 2006/02/15 v7ndotcom elursrebmem update.

    Yeah, I like it :)

Was a good and funny one.

But just for the record I want to say that I told him “about 100″ not “hundreds” ..., but he is a reporter so he is forgiven :)

Even the WSJ makes an occasional mistakes/misquote.

BTW, I found a direct link that currently does not require paid subscription that is at least working today - try this

Article also mentions Team Taggle - aka the Black Hats - viva 'la France! ;-)

sarahk - did some digging on the article -good luck.

I have to give some serious kudos here to JS and his V7N; this has turned out to be quite a coupe in buzz marketing.

I liked Cutts' comments about how Gomes didn't link to any of the contestant sites which seems only fair, but very smart for JW to ask anyway. However, I noticed that the artilce links to Google ;) - they could've at least linked to V7N too it seems.

    Also of note for me:

People who readily admit and promote the fact that they're going openly black-hate.

    Second ....

Is there a V7N update in the future? :D

It's just to see how well Google does at banning!! I got four other domains in the contest with none of that!!! The black-hat one is listed before all my other contest sites!!!!

I'm tempted to add even more keyword stuffing in the file. As the little DP Google Base contest back in December showed, the more keyword stuffing, the better, listing wise!!!!

Being a tiny one URL site, I'll be suprised if Google actually manually banns it!! :D

Reading the comments on Matt's blog is very entertaining.

I guess some folks are still under the impression that content is king.

I entered the game recently and didn't spend too much time on it. I was #86 this morning but BTDino gets all my attention. Not to mention my own no non-sense SEO contest.
