Promoting My Site

    Well I have this site: www. legiodraco. net which I'd like to recieve about 100 uniques per day. At the current I'd say it averages about 25 per day.

    It is an EXTREMELY niche site, but I have had adding articles and creating an interesting forum, to the extent of my knowledge. I have tried link exchanges, search engine optimization and the like, but I don't know to much about this topic.

    If anyone could help me by giving suggestions. I have tried reading this site, but I feel most suggestions are for less niche oriented websites.

    As small as this sounds, your content has id querystrings in it. Google has openly stated that they don't want anything to do with these, since they're quite often affiliate ID querystrings and/or duplicate content querystrings. So if there's a way to fix your URLs to avoid this, I'd recommend doing so.

    Other than that, just more pages about what your site is all about. I don't really get it.

    But to answer to matthius, i think you should focus more on your content than the design of your website. For example i went on your site, i had to think what it was talking about. After i saw it was talking about a guild but i dont know what kind of game.

    You've to fix all that man, your content is more important than the design of your website ( your design is pretty ). so bad huh?

    Fair enough, irka. I can educate. :)

    Let's take one of Matthius' URLs for example (I'm going to highlight the important part):

    http://legiodraco.net/Mambo/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=60&Itemid=42

    The &id=60 represents the id querystring. Google has a problem with these, since they quite often represent affiliate IDs for marketing purposes and as a result create a problem with duplicate content.

    Basically, a querystring is the combination of a variable (id) and a value (60) passed from one page to the other in order to present dynamic content.

    Now...while we're on the topic of querystrings, let's highlight another one:

    http://legiodraco.net/Mambo/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=59&Itemid=42&PHPSESSID=ddfb9de4c382e7961ba02e54f1816fca

    PHPSESSID (or PHP Session ID) is baaaaaaad. Very very baaaaaaad. The Session ID is only assigned to the machine accessing the website at that particular time, and cannot be reused by any other user or machine (e.g. a Google crawler).

    Since I don't use session IDs in querystrings, I don't know for sure whether Google processes these links separately or merely ignores them. In any event, the querystring can and should be removed.

    Since you are using Mambo have you considered using 404SEF or OpenSef on your site? That should give you some advanced SEF Url's.

    Your landing page seems to be a little off. You land on /mambo wouldn't you want that to be on your root?

    I would agree with routed11, you need to fix your landing page, then implement permalinks (search engine friendly urls). I would fix this right away, because you want to have Google index your site with nice short urls.

    I would also change the Meta Desciption tag. It is kind of long and and has a line break. This does not make sense.

    For urls, consider using urls with title and alt tags. This makes it easier on the search engines to know what your site is about.

    Next I would advertise your site on business cards at one of the local game shops in town, or at a gaming convention.

    @Matthius

    With the traffic you get is it worth adding a forum?

    For e.g. in my case until i start getting loads of traffic i won't consider adding a forum.

    @everyone

    What do you ppl think? For e.g. should blogs add forums?

    Hi matthius

    You have only 300 link popularity that is not call you have done link exchange.

    there are more that 2000 web directories out there if just add your link, so you would get minimum of 7k to 8K link popularity plus you can link exchange with many sites.

    You have to decrease your site logo it is more that 85000 byts.. look for softwar by searching "image optimization" you might be getting visiters but if your images or site site is over so many people at this time using 56k modem and it would be hard for them to load your page and they will leave your site or might not come back.

    Good luck
