Is it worthwhile to even look into one?

 

I think rhey can work but with great investments to market them etc etc

 

does a youtube clone or myspace clone make money?
Any script or site can make you money if you can market it right and get visitors to your site. Same with the freelancer script. There are many of them out there. You can get it up and running but if you want to make money you need to get people to use your site instead of elance.com and others.

 

youtube and myspace are passe
just time pass fads that require lot of bandwidth. I dont think it makes any sense to duplicate them
gaf on the other hand is a true business idea

 

I think it SHOULD work if marketed right. From what I see they charge a hefty fee for each transaction. It will all add up once it gets started. Maybe if you put ads on the site, more income?

 

If you have direct revenue you should never have ads on your site.... you are in a very bad place if you get more income from $0.05 from someone leaving your site by a click through link than by staying on your site and buying a membership package etc.

As said, yes they can make money but have the same challenges as any user content based site (eg forums, auctions etc) in that they take having members to get more members.

 

yes, freelance sites like GAF or Elance or scriptlance, make very good money

 

but i know sites like ***** which have fake projects and fake members. I often see similar projects on scriptlance which talk about posting fake projects on dummy lance sites and attract programmers.

 

jUST FEW DAYS BACK,a guy from Slovenia bought the Freelancer clone script from me,and just yesterday he was saying me that,he has made around 90$ and 343 members in 5 days. I think,they really market it well..

 

Every website makesmoney if you work hard and have good advertising strategy.
don't see other'smaking money from such webistes but try if you have nice marketing strategy

Agreed 110% wholeheartedly. I've been saying this since they came out. But people still chase those fools errands.

What's worse is they pump n dump them to the next noob coming down the pike.

 

there are too many of the freelancing websites,
unless you have something different and attractive in your site, it is going to be very hard to pull customers in

If you have a lot of programmers and webmasters exchanging auctions, then yes.
