hello, my site is www.love4teas.com . I have a problem with how it is indexed in google. For a lot of the pages, when you see them in google, under the title you just see "» Home » Green Tea » Black Tea » White Tea » Oolong Tea » Red Tea » Herbal Tea » Tea Gifts » Buy Tea » Iced Tea » Tea Brewing » Tea Shelflife » Tea Bricks ..." -you see this instead of part of the text on my page, what have I done wrong with my seo or coding for this to happen? my pages are very simple, so if anyone could help me fix this it would be much appreciated. to see what I am talking about type in site:love4teas.com in google.
You don't have the meta description tag on your pages, this tag is what is used by search engines as a description for your search results. Below is an example, insert it between the <head></head> tags.
A meta description can help, but google often ignores it and takes text from the page instead. Since your navigation links appear before the content, it's the first google grabs on every page. The only way around this is using a CSS template instead of the tables. This way you can have the navigation exactly where you have it now, but move it below your content/text in the actual sourcecode of your pages. It's a common problem with left side navigation bars that can easily be avoided.
google are the one who choose what description to use at SERP snippet.. thats right depends on the content.. meta description can help, since its in the head tag.. try create one... this might also help.. http://www.mattcutts.com/blog/video-anatomy-of-a-search-snippet/
