We use Human Brains instead of SEO software. :D

Most of the SEO software that i've heard of are just using black hat technique, like door way creater, content creater .. (if you want to call them SEO software).

Others are just useless, like website submission (those that auto-submit your site to 1000 of directories) and

    fully agree
any attempt to use whatever tool resulted within minutes in the perception that no tool ever matches years of experience - hence i fully stoped using or even thinking to use any tool.
brain can produce hundreds of top 10 SERPS faster and more easy than any tool ever can

Now I would say that awstats is very valuable, I do use the DP keyword tracker but honestly that's more of an info tool than an seo tool for me.

Well there is software that "aids" your seo work by saving you time, if that is what you mean.

As far as SEO software goes for actually building your pages, Well XSite-Pro does a pretty good job for on-page SEO, and especially handy if you are new to it all.

But for those more veteran SEO, it wont be of much interest.

Obviously I find SeoElite very handy when doing research on how well my competition or future competition is SEO'd, and where I need to focus more.

I guess the most usefull SEO tools, are tools that save you research time and automate the tasks that can be automated.

Otherwise its all by hand baby.

That's actually a good point! SE's can detect use of these SEO (page generator) programs and often decide to ban all sites using them.

(WPG got me banned by AV in 1999)

WebCEO has a nice keyword suggestion tool and a couple other goodies.

NicheBot/DomainHunter/DP keyword suggest - each has its good points, sometimes I'll use all 3.

Arelis worked great for a reciprocal niche directory

And the Firefox Web Developer toolbar and SEOpen are nice.

I use Urchin web stats. SEO Elite. Wordpress. Wordtacker. Ouverture Keyword Tool. Keyword Discovery. And the brain too.

Its all really seo software to some degree anyway - my brain seems programmed that way now too.

as for seo software that gets you banned - i suspect that falls into the 'black hat' seo software category - see the other thread in this forum...

I use many seo s/w like- seoelite, arelis, webpositiongold, webceo, optilink, wordtracker and many more. but...a big BUT...I don't find...ONE STOP S/W yet.

Also, I don't find any tool of that importance...at last I have to comeback at manual work for reliability and getting confidance in work.

This is not fault of s/w or s/w developer...but it is this very industry....."SEO" Its dynamic.

The firmware that came with this thing between my ears called a brain... though if you want real 'software', right now I'd have to say it's Flo's notepad2.

Most "software" and "tools" for SEO are idiotic BS that's either on-page javascript bloat for things you should be gleaning from your server logs (google analytics comes to mind), or black hat nonsense more likely to get you slapped down by the engines than ranked up.

NOT that ranking is as important as content of value -- of course if you have content of value marked up semantically and in an accessible manner, the rest should take care of itself; that's why SEO as a 'cottage industry' is filled with sleazeball scam artists who have turned worrying about the search engines into effectively dumping a can of shellac on a pile -- and why typically on more than 2/3rds of my searches I don't find an actually useful page until the 6th or 7th entry.

SEO is a small but important part of building a site, it does NOT warrant having people running around with that being all they do -- if you have a good writer handling your copy, a decent editor reviewing it, someone turning it into markup who has even the smallest clue what semantic markup is, and how to make the page accessible... and take the time to make a few links on relevant sites about said content, "SEO" should take care of itself and said SEO "experts" serve no purpose other than preying on the type of ignorant twits who use terms like "web 2.0", demand HTML 5 when they don't actually know what that is, and think they can get sound technical advice from the pages of Forbes.

When again, taking technical advice from the pages of Forbes is like taking financial advice from Popular Electronics.
