See that is where I disagree, hence my request that no opinons/valuations were asked for, the value of a site is ultimately what someone is willing to pay for it, nothing more, nothing less.

I bought a site for $3000 and sold it for $7500 without changing anything.
I sold another site recently for $5000 which had very little earnings, less than this one if I remember correctly.

You would not have paid those prices, granted, for me not everything comes down to past/present income there are a lot of other factors that I add value to.

I agree, some people are idiots. But some call them risk takers. Everything is subjective, I was just trying to state what a conservative buyer would like to see.

This thread has been completely trashed, I'm just wondering where the moderators are at.

I registered back in November of last year and have only been lurking/browsing. I like to browse the By, Sell or Trade forum but I think you can agree this thread got way off track.

This is a forum community, if you didn't want opinions you should have posted it on eBay instead.

    Exactly.

First, my intention when I first posted wasnt to bash - and actually my first thought was that maybe the seller was being unrealistic or that there was more to the site then I could see. My initial intention was to only be helpful.

But the attitude of the seller made me dig even further. Then I learned that the site was bought for $3800 less then the seller was asking just 2 weeks prior, which doesnt mean much except that the seller doesnt really now the history. Ah, but then I found out he did know the history and that the site didnt have a history of earning what he said, but historically made much less, and that was something the seller didnt reveal.

There are alot of new people who visit digitalpoint. They should have the benefit of the experience of more knowlegable members discussing these kinds of things. Just because the seller didnt ask for a valuation doesnt mean anything. This isnt a classifieds section in a newspaper. This is an interactive forum. Post on ebay if you dont want the feedback.

Honestly, the attitude of the seller is what caused most of the problems in this thread IMO. Now my personal opinion is that whoever bought the site got screwed, but - he did so knowingly. He was clearly warned of the value of the site. Now he's on his own.

Looking at my rep from this thread, many have agreed with me.

I give up i got bashed with loads of red for this post !

It looks to me that without mods stepping in on DP there is a select gang of 1% of members here that go around bullying others for any comments they dont agree with.

    Is DP moderated ?

    Gang? LOL --

This forum is moderated, but the philosophy is to let people express their views and not overmoderate. It seems to me people have expressed their view of your post by giving you rep. I got a bunch of green for this one - and one red (from sji2671) Some of the rep was from members I havent seen before.

Its called experssing your opinion - something that occasionally happens on forums. You want the moderators to do what? Censor them?

You expressed your opinion, and people told you what they thought of it. Simple. Whats to moderate?

You are a forum cyber bully.

Well, it was never reported until just this minute...Either get back on topic and cut it out with the personal attacks or it gets closed ;)

Don't ask stupid questions that you already know the answer to...You have over 300 posts here so I would hope you would know by now that Mods don't get involved in this type of thing. Maybe try here

ROFL! - Hmmm.. Maybe another member of the 'Gang'

And I am not 'King' on DP - that would be Shawn....

And for the record, I dont go around bashing threads. You should do some research before you make silly claims.

Anyway - back on topic - The site was sold to someone. Good luck to the new buyer. Really, nothing else to discuss. <unsubscribe>

Didn't realize it was sold so there really isn't a reason to keep the thread open. If for some reason the sale falls through sji2671 feel free to PM me to request it be reopened.

    Group Hug
