Well it's alittle more then 3 weeks since Google started indexing pages in my site since I started off with just 8-10 pages and now I'm up to 6000+ pages (out of 15000) indexed so far (single page news aggregator so tons of pages by the daily). And while I see afew hundred folks visiting my site on a daily basis, all of that comes from google. When I rebuild my sitemap then Google starts crawling alitle bit afterwards. Meanwhile, slowpokes such as Ask, MSN, and Yahoo only index about 10-14 of my pages... a far far far cry from the 6000 that Google is munching up on. And yes yes I know that it's a thing of patience in the sport of SEO since even I preach that after waiting awhile for Google to pick things up, but it's unnerving seeing how I can't even get 5-10% of my pages indexed with the other guys since that would mean tons more traffic So my question, how much longer should I expect to wait for my pages to get indexed by the other guys? I mean, they are pinged of sitemap changes the same time Google is, and I do have my sitemap location in robots.txt file.... so what gives?
Thats why they are all still competing to beat google...the answer is google keeps their serp index and results fresh..while others don't..!!
Did you sign up at Yahoo!'s and MSN's webmasters accounts? http://webmaster.live.com http://siteexplorer.search.yahoo.com/ Verify your site and submit your sitemap to them.
yahoo is been doing really good lately. they hold more of my backlinks then google does. (so it seems) When I go to the google tools...it's showing that I have 1000less in external links. With yahoo...it shows almost all of them.
Submitted my atom feed and sitemap to Yahoo and yet only getting the abusive neglent type of loving from them . Even went through the trouble of getting an API developer key in addition to my account there. Also went through the trouble of getting my site in MSN search yet stats and site:mydomain.com is only showing like what... 8 or 14 pages? Again my site is pinging them when updating and on top of having webmaster accounts. Would be nice if Ask had something similar but wouldn't be any use since it's no better in doing barely a dozen pages. As tempted as I was to say that myself didn't wanna sound like a Google fanboy but seeing how their the ones doing ANYTHING in my scenario, I damn sure can't disagree Guess it'll take a good looooong minute before things get updated with anybody else. Need to do the speculating myself, but if anyone has alot of pages indexed with ask/msn/yahoo indexed and it took you awhile feel free to share how long it took them.
google SERP updates very fast. I remember my page got top 5 SERP after 30 minutes. So, keep updating with fresh and unique contents!
First All Webmasters are trying to cache in google of their new website's index page. I would agree with :- Create Google sitemap and after that Point your index link with Digg with Related Topic and also try to set Your website Link in Some Related Forums. and use complete Fresh and Quality content. after that Spiders will tell to Your index page :- Welcome.
