My maximum bid $1500, if the seller sign an agreement that the site will survive according to all his "IFs".

I agree, a seller this defensive and combative will not inspire much interest from buyers. Something to think about.

I dont have the time or the energy to trawl back through old posts, but correct me if i am wrong,it seems 9times out of 10 someone who gets bashed when selling a site is either lying about revenue ect or has had a run in on another thread with the person who is posting replys.

I check the sites for sale most days and have had some good buys in the past.

Cant people that have no interest in buying the site just stop bashing ! threads.

With the exeption of members like honey it seems every sales thread is being bashed to death.

How many members have a nice site to sell us but are to afraid to list it for fear of critisism ?
Guys you are shooting yourselves in the foot with your attitudes.

I have sold 3 sites this year around the $5k mark but Ebay/Sitepoint seem better, Sitepoint is a lot more aggressive as regards thread bashing which is nice but DP's relaxed style to moderating is also quite refresing in other areas.

If members would keep opinions and valuations to the "Appraisal" or "Review my website" areas then I think that would be better, as I stated in post 1 I was not look for valuations or opinions. Everyone has differing opinions and in certain areas of the forum they are asked for and in others they are not.

How often does a site get listed for sale with BS information and the 'offender' gets outed by members here? I think it is one of the plus points of DP that any website being put up for sale *will* be looked at, analysed and commented upon.

They get outed on Sitepoint as well but threadbashing and opinions and valuations are jumped on and dealt with by the mods there, that was my point. Nothing wrong with people questioning dodgy info but all this "its not worth xxx" really does have nothing to do with a sales thread and is uncalled for.

Most of the posts here do nothing to inform anyone, most are opinions.
The fact that I bought the site for $1200 has no relation to the sale price, if I built it myself 3.5 years ago should that affect the sale price? Nope, just like my purchase has no bearing on its worth to someone else, further I bought the site blind based on my valuation of it and don't have any proof of earnings before I had it, no screenshots etc so I gave actual real figures that may be relevant to a potential buyer.

I see your point. Possibly a line that should remain uncrossed? Valid questions, sure, but opinions on asking price may be best left to the buyer. Caveat emptor and all that.

Agreed. If I was unsure to the valution there is an area on this forum where I could ask for such input, the facility is there, but I knew how much I valued the site at already so specifically stated I didnt want anyone elses valuation/opinons.

The posts above don't really help anyone IMO, I probably could have had the thread locked long ago but perhaps the above may serve as an example of how not to treat a sales thread, I didn't handle myself very well either rising to the bait for which I apologised. The next time I have a decent site chances are I will not be posting it here which is no major loss to DP I know and may make some people happy, the whole trashing of the thread from people who clearly are not interested just sickened me and made me mad.

What a horrible sales thread, are there no moderators available here on DP?

sji2671: you really shouldn't have blown up with all the profanity in your posts, that really isn't the best way to react to this and can damage your credibility.

But, if sji2671 specifically stated no valuations then why bother even posting in the thread?

Alot of people want to sell sites based on potential sure - but whether you like it or not its not up to you. Honestly, I'm shocked that this thread was allowed to escalate to this level of immaturity here on DP.

The sale of a site is based on current and past revenue. NOT future and IF revenue.

I'm not saying the site is not worth 5k but what I am saying is that a person that does their DD would not purchase this at 5k based on current and past revenue.

That's common knowledge for the most part, but why post in his thread if you're not interested? This is for buying, selling and asking questions related to the site for sale. Not giving your opinions on asking price.
