Can I select to display some articles in side bar in some order? just like I used to do with drupal blocks and views !!

Yes, you can control whats in the sidebars of your Joomla site. These areas are controlled by modules. If you look at two of my sites, you can see a variety of things you can do.

Modules are blocks of code that you designate the position and order of. If you set more than one module for a specific area, then you can set the order that they are displayed in.

    The websites are:

    myinternettutorials.com
    and
    metaphysicalmodalities.com

Feel free to ask questions, I'm always happy to help

You can display anything you want in your sidebar, or any other position for that matter.

For example, go to your administrator screen -> Modules -> Site Modules. See the position column? Click on an individual module, then change the position. It will now show up in a different position. You can move things around the same way.

Hint: Test your layouts on both Firefox and IE. I spent a few hours last night tearing out hair because adding a component changed the layout in IE but not Firefox. The reason is that each browser has its own default settings for DIV padding, which changes the layout if you've got something that doesn't quite fit in the DIV.

I don't have 1.5 installed So I cant point you directly to it. It should be in the site configuration.

As to your articles in the sidebar, in 1.14 I would use the newsflash module. Create a category specifically for the module, and switth the category fo the article you want to show there. That way, it won't show in the regular content.
