I've read all your posts and I've arrived to a conclusion that the most efficient technique here is a multiple approach. Use all methods mentioned above, combine them and verify the most effective for your web site and this will be a success.
1. SE = unique qualitative content
2. social bookmarking networks (digg, stumleupon etc.)
3. link exchange and link directories (this will actually bring some traffic but it is also useful for seo)
4. forum sigs
5. free article submissions
and paid
1. paid press release submission (I'll recommend prweb.com (PR 7)-- pay for submitting your PR and you will get advertisement and review written by yourself)) and at approximately 3 quality one way links to your site)
2. of course PPC advertising, paid links and banners on relevant sites paying for impressions...

And SE optimization considering your site codes HTML and meta tags...
This List can be enormous but even smart combination of free methods will drive enough traffic to earn money for paid methods)))))

 

ppc.. adword,yahoo,msn...

 

SMO and yahooanswers are the two good sources of traffic,.
but I'm not sure if yahooanswers provide quality traffic

 

Google is my boss. It gives me money and traffic. Love it and obey to it!

 

I get organic traffic from Google....Also I get from social bookmarking sites and directories...

 

Well for me Google is the main source of traffic
yahoo and msn sends negligible traffic even for results on their first page

Rank well for google and yahoo and msn will automatically rank you up, my experience

75% from search engines (mostly google). 25% from referrals (other sites linking to mine).

 

I get most of my traffic in google especially in images...

The majority of my traffic comes from forum marketing and article marketing.
