It seems that it's everybody's goal is to get listed in these two directories. Will this actually help you out significantly? How much traffic can you get?

I look at them as a 'nice to have'. I don't think it makes or brakes your serps.

I just feel Yahoo Directory is not worth all the money you pay it for.
You could invest your budget in a ppc campaign and yet get more results in a short time too...

Seems to be the primary consideration now days - short term gain. Not many are in to it for the long term, if you are, Yahoo directory is definitely worth it.

DMOZ? Who cares how long it takes to get reviewed when it costs nothing more than a little of your time. Most people spend more time whining about not being accepted than they did suggesting their site.

Spend a half hour and find a suitable category and submit a guidelines compliant title/description. Once you're done, move on to more productive promotional methods besides whinging about not being listed or how long it's taking.

Some say being listed in Yahoo directory helps the ranking in Yahoo!, but I think it's a matter of how you SEO overall.

One of my blogs is in Dmoz, and I believe because of that, it ranks pretty well in Google since its launch. Considering I do SEO pretty much in the same way for other sites, this factor (being listed in Dmoz) has a great influence in the G SERP because of the blog's ranking while others are not too ranked well currently.

Why do you think it's useless?

Does it help with your rankings?

    Rubbish

I just received an order for 3 months advertising ($150 per month) with a company that found a site of mine on DMOZ.

Seems many people here just don't "get it". It's not about traffic and/or PR. It's about RESULTS. A listing on Yahoo or DMOZ only needs to lead to ONE relationship that you wouldn't otherwise have and it's worth it. Business people search these two sites for potential advertising vehicles and partnering. If you're IN them it adds credibility whether rightly or wrongly.

I have many sites that are DMOZ listed (well, 7, but thats quite a lot given how hard it is to get a listing lol) - and in all honesty I dont think its the be all and end all, its just nice to know that your site is listed, so I would file it under the "warm and fuzzy" category of SEO!

I have a few sites listed in DMOZ, but I really doubt its any good except for the better google ranking those sites seem to have. Guess its really depends on the site you have

I have a some websites in, and some out of DMOZ and Yahoo. I can't say it makes a deal of difference to traffic, it's just nice to have.

If your website is listed in DMOZ this gives added advantage on your competitors in google. and also the quality traffic as well.

but there accepting rate is %5 isn't it !
