There are threads about peoples home office all over the place.

I would like to see stuff about peoples mobile/travel offices, if you have one.

I just put up a video here:

    My Mobile Office

Post some photos in this thread or something!

Being a student unfortunately means I don't get the luxury you guys have. BTW, this thread would be better suited to general chat. just fyi.

For me, freedom is the ultimate luxury. I really think we're entering a sort of second-epoch of the digital era where freedom of movement and free time will be the most valuable commodities for people who have highly marketable skillsets or talents, rather than huge salaries, stock options, retirement plans, etc.

There are a few people who are on the cutting edge of culture who have realized that a global society has some very big benefits as well as some very negative effects, as well.

This kind of freedom of movement is unprecedented for normal people. And it's not limited to some sort of priveleged class, a particular nationality, or ethnicity.

While guys like me are going out of the Western world, tons of tech saavy people from other parts of the planet are going in on H1B visas, and so on.

The downside to all of this of course is the very fast assimilation of everyone to a sort of homogenous global consumer culture.

Just in the years that I've been in Asia I've seen things change tremendously.

There are very few communities of outlyers and cultural resistors anymore, not a single pixel of "terra incognito" left on the map, and the differences that make us unique and which make us want to share and experience each others worlds (For me it was National Geographic Magazine when I was akid) are being quickly wiped out.

So, that's all a prelude to something I would say to you since you mentioned you're still in school.

"Go West young man, go West!". Or East. Or North, or South. Finish school and break camp as fast as you can while there are still some things, people and places worth experiencing!

And I see from your message header you're from Indy.. .

So am I. I graduated from Ben Davis High School and attended IUPUI, until I had what amounts to a nervous breakdown and got on an airplane to India with a 1-way ticket and less than $50 to my name - And that's a fact, Jack.

Until you can make your spatial moves, make your financial ones. Do whatever you can to gain valuable experience and create as many passive streams of income as possible.

Then, when you're ready you can go be a crazy person in China, or pump out baby rednecks in Speedway or Beech Grove or something, or do whatever. But you can do it on your own terms.

Oh - And read Brave New World again. :)

Ben Davis is decent, but it's all about North Central!
