Any suggestions? Please? :)

I own a VBulletin lincense and wish to start a forum. Thing is I am not sure what I want to do. I owned a domain(it expired) and ran a forum with boards for "everything" basicly. It didnt go anywhere very fast. I had maybe one or two members who were active almost daily.

I own the following domains, any ideas or suggestions would be welcome..

    Domain - My thoughts
hotoffthewire.net - Domain is kinda long..

dirtforums.com - Could be good for a "Get the Dirt" type of forum...

drunkandcrazy.com - Some suggested I use this one for a forum and make it cater to people that like to party and/or the college/university crowd. Just not sure how Adsense or YPN would like the type of posts these types would bring.

embarrassing-things.com - Some suggested I could make this a forum and people could post embarrassing/stupid stories, pics, and videos. But not sure about Google/YPN.

rx2.net - A search on Google for RX2 turns up 473,000 results but most if not all are for Mazda RX2 which I have no interest in.

seekingrevenge.com - Some suggested I use this one and make a forum about pranks and getting revenge. But not sure about Google/YPN.

sitesponsors.net - Some suggested I use this one and make a forum to talk about affiliate programs and the like. I doubt it will get many users since theres already forums of this type out there.

venomx.com and zurax.com - Could be used for multi-topics I guess though my last one like this failed.

I thought about starting one for freebies, bargains, deals, etc but would it really be popular or would I end up with very few users? I have also thought about starting an adult one but then I cant use Adsense or YPN and it would also limit where I could advertise it. Also would be hard setting up a paid account for members since none of the payment places in VB allow adult sites.

    So any suggestions? :) TIA

You have no interest in the Mazda RX2, but is there a forum dedicated to that already?
If not, you could be on to a winner :)

I really believe that if you don't pick a subject you like, you will never get motivated enough to put the time in to making it successful.

I would choose a topic you have a passion about and spend $6.00 on a new domain name.

Hot off the wire is one of the stronger ones on the list. It would make a decent source for a news/politics discussion forum.

Dirt Forums is not really a strong domain, but I guess you could use it for an "Inside Scoop" type forum, or more logically a gardening one.

Drunk and Crazy is a bad idea. Either it will get no activity, or it will get plenty, an issue will arise, and you'll be taken to court.

Embarassing Things - People who are immature and lame enough to post such garbage already do so on myspace, xanga, and Facebook. Dump it.

RX2 has potential in that there are many rx owners. The only problem is that there are already a few very well established forums for mazda owners, so you'd have trouble starting out. Don't know of anything else it could be used for, other than a random redirect.

Site Sponsors has great potential as an eCommerce and business marketplace or general discussion forum. I'd love to see it developed, as I know I'd get great use from it.

Venom MX and Zurax are random and of no use.

As to a bargin type forum, you'd stand a decent chance, since the internet is full of bargin hunters, and there are only a few bargin forums I know of, all of which do well.

As to an adult site, why not run affiliate ads of porn sites? High payout rate. I'm looking into that myself since my next forum, though not pornographic, is 18+. So if you'd like to discuss what's involved in running an adult community (since I've looked into it) PM me, and I'd be glad to discuss it with you.

You could still set up paid accounts. As far as something like paypal knows, they're just paying for premium memberships on a forum. I have a friend who runs an adult forum who does it without issue.

Thanks all for the suggestions. A little tough making up my mind. :(

gprime what do you mean by "eCommerce and business marketplace"?

I mean that you could use it as a site, where in some capicity you charge a fee, and the site functions as a business networking and dealforging board.
