Just came across this :- http://edition.cnn.com/2007/POLITICS/08/08/gingrich/index.html Quote "These aren't debates," the former Georgia congressman said. "This is a cross between [TV shows] 'The Bachelor,' 'American Idol' and 'Who's Smarter than a Fifth-Grader.'" "What's the job of the candidate in this world?" asked Gingrich. "The job of the candidate is to raise the money to hire the consultants to do the focus groups to figure out the 30-second answers to be memorized by the candidate. This is stunningly dangerous." Exactly what I had been thinking before I came across this comment from Newt Gingrich What do you think? Personally I think it's like a Circus where the media and spin doctors take all the money, at the expense of those same funds being deployed more effectively in other areas Gingrich view on this is:- Gingrich's answer to the problems would be to get rid of limits on campaign financing, which he said have made the problems worse by requiring more individual donations to meet the same goals, and to stage a series of "dialogues" among the major-party candidates -- once a week, for 90 minutes, for nine weeks before the elections. We all know Gingrich is not whiter than white, but he certainly has focused here on a Circus that seems to be hurtling out of control Comments :-
I like Gingrich, and I wish he was in the race. I have a feeling he would stand a very good shot at winning.
I don't like Gingrich, but he's right about the political circus. The media has discovered a cash cow in presidential elections, and they are having more of an effect on the outcome than ever before. The best candidates can no longer rise to the top on their own merits, they need the MSM on their side.
Yes you are right but this media programming of these candidates does not allow for the 'real self' to surface As they are pre-programmed like robots I am not impressed or fooled by this media hyping and profiling
