Becoming number one on Google for a term that has allinanchor: 500 million results? I think it yields around 1-2k visitors each day. To get an idea "porn" has 287 million results for allinanchor...is this an accurate way to check for competition.
It is a search operator, all it is doing is ranking sites in order of anchor text. Remember, anchor is not the only factor in search engine results.
I wouldn't say it's worth much... Depends how many searches your keyword/phrase gets doesn't it You could have one that has 1bn results but only 3 actual searches a day. I remember targetting a keyword that had around 30mil results but once I hit number 1... Traffic was still pretty much the same You learn though eh! Good luck.
its how many people are using the same anchor text as you for that phrase... allinanchor: "porn" would get way more than allinanchor: "rare pigmy porn"
the real question is why do you want to know? are you looking to sell the site? sell advertising on it? get a value of your seo skills? tell us the term or your site and we can quickly evaluate for you. but it may be as characterplanet said your comparing yourself using a generic term but that includes in the 2 million sites that have "rare pigmy porn" which uses a generic term "porn" in it but when you boil it down next to nobody searches for that term......unless they are into pigmys
