It could be. Else, there's a possibility that the version of Vista you people are running is probably buggy..?? Eh?

That, I believe, is your opinion and not what Microsoft has admitted :)

Well, I had Vista for exactly 3 days on my brand new laptop. This thing is a drag. 2 Gb of memory was obviously not enough to feed the Beast. I switched back to XP.

you come to a forum looking for intelligent discussion and you get stuff like "vista sucks" or something similair.
no rationale. no explanation. just a childish outburst.

i know that i have been using various operating systems since 1981.

vista like any other operating system that i have used has its good points and its bad points

Guys, I used to be like a lot of you who thought Vista sucked, but I actually tried it today and bought Vista Business.

I actually like it a lot more than XP, mainly because of its sleek, beautiful design, but I don't seem to find that I have the problems that some of you guys are saying, such as lag, slow-bootup or anything. It runs real smooth and works perfectly, and I have 1 Gig of RAM.

    I hear you.

Too bad Microsoft doesn't make it easier to choose XP right from the start when you buy a new laptop.

It is worth the extra trouble to switch back to XP though, but they could make it easier for us.

Unfortunately, there is indeed a dearth of intelligent discussion on DP. Vista is a solid OS and I've extensively tested it for over a year now.

You need to read the thread again. There has been many links you can go to so you can see it's not just our opinion but that many respected web site are saying it too. Take the time to read the thread before you make such assumptions.

I think many expected vista to be a new revolution sadly it wasn't to be, even after a delayed release. But the OS is not a slouch. It does have its plusses. While those using xp do not see a reason to go for vista, those on vista do not see a reason to go back to xp.

The good thing is no one is being forced to upgrade. With support for xp till 2009 there is no reason for either camp to panic.

Reading this thread, I had the exact opposite feeling : a lot of people on Vista have seen a LOT of reasons to go back to XP... and a lot of them are doing just that.

Those downgrading are the ones whose configuration does not meet the minimum requirements. The ram is a key factor here. Anything less than 1GB is not gonna cut it.

I love vista, perfectly fast, i use most of the new functionality, 3d window windows+tabbing, taskbar previews, sidebar, extra large picture viewing in folder browsing, the new start menu (which i love).

Just makes my workday more streamlined, working on an XP system now for me feels like i'm losing a lot of handy things...

hhahahah no kidding vista is prolly one of the most awful biz MS ever made. Think about the money spent, lmao.

lucky for them they sold a lot of home licenses to the laptop sellers

One has to wonder which version of Vista most of the people complaining are using. I just received a new laptop from work which has Vista Enterprise on it and I have not (as of the past 3 weeks) had memory/device issues. I even have 4 virtual machines running on it with Outlook and Word open and it is chugging along well so far. The virtual machines are running 2x Windows 2008, 1x Windows 2003 R2 and Windows Vista. The Windows 2003 R2 is also running Exchange 2007.

The SP1 for Vista is apparently removing some of the restrictions imposed on the "lower" Vista editions. As already mentioned, with Vista SP1, Vista's code will align with Windows 2008.

My cousin is owner of a company selling notebooks and giving aftersale services, maintenance etc. And yesterday when I asked him what he was thinking about Vista, he told me that he loved it very much because his service team was working full time to repair notebooks with Vista or switch back them to XP :) He is very happy and really thankful to Microsoft.
