Flipping sites is illegal/wrong? i mean, you get a site from another person and sell it like if was yours and after buy it from the original seller someone here do this? works?
Yep. I've done it as well. Not as a business model, just by happenstance. Turned a nice profit from them oddly enough. Funny how you can buy it for one price, and a few months later sell it for a nice profit. But.. that is if you know what you are doing. A lot of people under value domain names. Not to mention content, and scripts. But their mistakes turned me a nice profit.
Flipping sites is very ethical. As long as you bought it ethically and sell it ethically. Don't rip people off and its both ethical and legal.
sure, but i mean, if i see an site for sale by i.e $50 and sell this site in another place for $70 saying that the site is mine and after someone buy the site from me, i buy the site from the original owner and stay with the $20 profit this is legal?
why wouldn't it be? if you decided to sell a house for $190,000 without asking around or appraising it. I bought it off you, put $10,000 into renovations to make it marketable; I could sell that same house for $260,000. Wouldn't you do it? I do not believe there is any question of the legality of it, but the ethical implications on trying to rip someone off come to play. Depending on how or why a site is being sold at that point. (ie: loss of all of its traffic due to an advertisement removal, so they are trying to sell it off). I've done this to a few sites in the past with moderate success. Some didn't work and I am hanging onto them, trying to market them as my own, but I might sell again in the future. You just have to remember the risks and keep them in mind I guess.
You can't sell what you don't own. So the OP makes a very valid point. If they don't own the site at a time of sale it is scam. (They are using money from second purchase to fund initial)
I took it as, Person A sells a site for $50 and then person B buys it for $50, then sells it to person C for $70. However, I obviously misread everything prior to this. lol. Im tired. Going back to the original post itself, if you find a low priced site on website A and sell it on Website B (and only after you get the money from website B do you buy it from Website A to transfer to the new owner)... THAT is a whole different story. I do not believe you can sell what you do not own at that time. (then again.... dropshippers kind of do this in a way? - though there is an agreement prior to this usually). So.. I do not believe this should be allowed. I was under the impression that it was a simple site flipping question. >_< Then again, it is late here.. I should probably read over the posts a few times at this time of night.
You need to buy the site first than sell it. What happens if while you are selling it, someone else buys it from the original seller. In any business deal, it is best to be totally honest and upfront with the buyer. It is fine to buy and sell sites as much as you want, it is not OK to sell something you do not have. The quick buck is not always the best buck. Tricks like this tend to bite you in the behind and they dry up quickly. However, if you are honest in your dealings, your income will increase in time and you will have a longevity in the business world.
Yep, this is fine.. as long as you have purchased and own the site, you can sell it for as much as someone is willing to pay
How is it 100% legal to sell something you do not already own. It is legal to buy it and resell it but not to sell it before you own it.
Actually this is an interesting question! What if the real seller is not interested to sell the site? Will you give a refund to the buyer? What will be your excuse (typical one would be : after talking with my partner we have decided not to sell our site ) So it depends on the place where you are and how would you like to make money but If I were you , I would definitely aim high (find potential users) and make sales at $XXXX range Good Luck Olgi
Its not same as realty business because website is intellectual property. You must sure that previous owner transfer full rights to you then it ethically correct. I do not think that there are laws about site flipping except ethical.
