Beware of vt16.com hosting!!!!

Vt16.com is a host that likes to suspend your account, tell you that you need a vps account because your site "takes up to much" resources, and take your money away. I don't understand why my site took much resources when it only average to 2k uniques a day and I was only hosted for 2 days without getting a notice that my site was eating up their cpu. That just goes to show that their server suck. Since I do not really know much about webhosting, I just ordered their vps package. I was told my site would be transferred and up by the next day. Than they kept making excuses about how they are having difficulties transferring my site to the vps server. Its been 5 days since I ordered their vps and they have not transferred my site yet. I decided that they where very unprofessional and ask for a refund. They do not give a refund even if you didn't use their vps hosting. They are scammers. Actually to think of it, its not really a real company. It is run by 1 person named Freddy. I have his msn, and everytime I talk to him, he leaves or is not on. I leave him a message to contact me back but he never does. When I wanted to settle a dispute on paypal this was his reply, he finally contacted me and said...

Just be careful if your a newbie like me when it comes to webhosting. Im sure his host is legit, but Im just telling you my experience with them.

 

It sometimes pays to go by a reputable host even though they may charge a few bucks extra. Also I feel a 2k visitor load does not warrant a VPS. Unless your site is a proxy .

 

Hmm it sure seems professional enough from the looks of the site design, but thanks for pointing out that they suck. Sorry for your losses, and hope you don't encounter anymore losers like that in the future.

Just use site5 ... 750 gb space 7.5 TB BW for 5$ a month, and they are a big reputable company. REALLY BIG. I doubt they will ask you to move your server to a VPS - heck they don't even offer VPS

I am not really much on the pricing, just as long as its less than 30 dollars. I own a forum and your right about the visitor load. It doesn't warrant a vps. I like reputable companies, but I believe that the smaller host gives the best support. In this case, it was horrible. In a host, I look for 24/7 support. Than the server specs. lol

Your right it does look professional. I am sick of these people flooding dp with stupid offers. I might try site5.

 

Sometimes its just bad scripts even if your page views are low. Although, I usually just tell me clients fix this or that etc. I had a client once using wordpress who was using an entire core2quad for himself. I helped him identify where his problem was and helped him fix it so the server went from using 400% mysql to 5% average.

If Freddy/VT16 suspended you, It was for a reason. They are quite a good company. Also, Maybe they were having trouble transferring the site...

Also, It's not just run by Freddy... There are others.

 

Yeah i hate Vt16 there trash, i ordered a hosting plan and it had a downtime for 7 Days! And then when my acc was back up i had 2 days before they suspended it. Freddy was no help and gave me no refund!

 

like I tell most people, always read as many reviews of a provider before signing up. You may still end up with issues but researching and reading reviews is a good start. You can get a good idea of a company by reading reviews.

I love many webhosting companies. Lunarpages, Hostican, Hostgator, Liquidweb, etc.

 

I had a vps with them, it kept crashing all the time even with extra ram, then they lost all my data. I wouldn't recommend them for any hosting.

 

Wow so many bad reviews. Im sure there was a reason why he suspended you. I wouldn't know what to say about the VPS.

He suspended my site because he said it took up too much cpu usage. I was in awe because my last host had no problem with my site cpu usage. I also run a vbulletin forum which is optimize to run pretty well. So his servers suck and as you can see his hosting and support suck. I am just writing a review.

 

Most hosts have a CPU usage limit which is 21-25%. So if you read his TOS there it is:
Server Limits
21% cpu and or memory for 3 minutes.

A little script error can cause the CPU overusage. I dont know what happened with the transfer lets wait for him.

You could have asked for the WHM screenshot of the usage.

2k uniques can be quite a lot depending on the mods of your forum. How many online users did you have at peak time?
So on that part vt16.com might be right.

But on the VPS part it smells like a scam as the service wasn't provided for 5 days after ordering it and even if they don't have a refund policy the VPS wasn't setup until that cancellation was made. So if you do a chargeback you'll win it.

Also i wouldn't go with site5 as they have severe limitations on the resource usage (just 2000 sql connections per HOUR!!!) and alsohave poor support and downtime. Just read some reviews and you'll know what i mean.
And don't go for the biggest package you can get as they are just massively oversold and most have a poor performance on dynamic websites. Just go with a small package which fits your needs and don't forget to ask for the average server load before comminting.

I am not in the mood to sit here and make a long thread to explain myself for this person! Lately there has been a few issues with me personally.. Not issues, but busy time! With friends, familly and so on for the fact that it was my birthday yesterday.. And a quite big day, and i have alot of people to celebrate with!

Second i just want to say that Joey never used ticket support or live support! He used my "personal" msn and talked with me directly at all times for all issues, and he then complained when I / ME were not online to help him!

His VPS got setup 10 minutes after he ordered it, he didn't get a welcome email because he wanted his site transfered! But i told him that the VPS was setup but will send welcome email when transfer is done, when he asked why the VPS was still pending!

Because of my busy schedual this week, and because he contacted me personally and not trough ticket / live support then he did not get the full support he should have got!

I tried to transfer the site on Wednsday, i got some issues and asked one of the staff to do it! It was done on Thursday around 13:00 PM... After i had promised Joey to have it done before 15:00 PM and he agreed on that!

His domain resolved slowly, and he blamed that on us! Because his domain wasnt fast enough to resolve the DNS then we didn't transfer the site... That is correct, because he couldn't see the website then we hadn't transfered it!

He then started to talk about how easy it was to change DNS from his old ones to the DNS vT16 uses.. But somehow he didn't want to realize that changing DNS to exiting ones and creating personal ones are 2 different things!

And he might have done something wrong, as this personen needed to google how to do it when i told him! As i am not familier with GoDaddy domain system then i was not able to help him!

This client got alot more then what he asked for! And he did something wrong with the personal domain creation or his domain was just awfull slow! But on vT16 side, we created his VPS, we setted it up with settings, we created a new account, we transfered the site, we even changed the config.php file to match the new DB details!!! We did all this on a unmanaged VPS.... So there is nothing to complain on!

I just want to tell all of you that this client is a horrible client, he is hard to deal with! And if you dont have what he want done on your personal msn inside 5 minutes then he will leave you! This guy is new on how webhosting work, and it's therefor a shit hard client to work with as he wants everything to happend in seconds on your personal MSN! I strongly recomendend hosting companies to stay away from this streaming forum!!!!

One more thing, he got suspended because he crashed my server 3 times on 42 minutes! How lovely eh? I can't post more information about it asq the Privacy we provide!

I am not going to reply to this thread, my last post! I personally did my best for this client despite my busy schedual.. I told the client to login to ftp and mysql to see that the site was transfered!!! But he really didn't want to listen!!!!

i use vt16.com as my host and have had no problems at all with them infact they have bent over backwards to help me in everyway and would recomend them to anyone
