Do affiliate sites like this actually convert?

I am curious if site's offering a wide variety actually convert. For example: mostfreebies.com

A site using a directory structure..with hundreds upon hundreds of different ads. How hard is this to manage? How would it convert? What type of traffic would be best?

    any thoughts or suggestions :)

I can tell you that certainly do. A lot of sites like that drive PPC traffic to internal landing pages according to product.

I guess they are quite good because you can send ppc traffic to internal pages and then some of them visitors may actually browse the site further and find other things that they are interested in making you more money for you ppc costs.

Sites like that are hard to manage. Especially when you have coupons that expire and you have to replace them, but generally coupon sites to extrememly well with affiliate merchants. If you add nice unique write ups on all the products or merchants you can achieve some good search rankings. If you post new content daily then you will surely get good traffic and revenue, the last ingredient would be some nice inbound links to your site to juice it up.

I'd suggest a .com or at least .org domain for a website that you're gonna put lots of work in :)

You are wrong. Only peoples who works in internet for a long time think that .com is better. For ordinary user info seems to be very reliable domain name
    .com just seems simple:)

It doesn't really matter. The only thing is if there is another site with the .com name it's easier to just remember sitename.com than sitename.us or .info

Anyone who knows anything about SERPs will know that the extension is not of huge importance. If you want something long like totallyfreestuffonline or freebiesonlinetoday then maybe you can snag the .com or .net..Personally I think shorter is better. If someone really likes your site they will remember the extension..Personally, I am anxious about developing this one :)
