This is from my own experiences when developing websites. I test pages on the major browsers, and Opera is the most misbehaved of them all. As a developer, if you want your sites to work in Opera, you have to keep things REAL simple. Standards-compliant code means nothing to Opera.

If the only browser you use is Opera, then you most likely have no idea how many visual problems you see which are caused by Opera and not the developer of the site. I've had to abandon many properly-coded CSS formatting attempts simply because Opera refuses to cooperate, and for some bizarre reason, it has enough of the market share that its finicky nature needs to be accommodated.

Of course Opera is fast, that's what happens when corners are cut.

I looked at it in both. Saw no difference. Maybe you changed it since yesterday.

I have to agree that FF has become more resource intestive. Mines been up to 1GB memory at times.

    I'm no IE lover, however.

A browser is a browser. If I can see the web page and it displays nice, I don't care which browser I use to see it.

BUT... what makes FF stand out for me is all the great add-ons developed for it. Web developer tools, adblocking, adsense notifier, weather, ip checkers, color picker, etc, etc, etc. It has become invaluable in my everyday efforts.

These things are what I use FF for above the rest.

IE and FF both have their strongpoints... IE can import MySQL databases quicker and actually finish the job, while FF can navigate quicker and supposively more secure, although I've really haven't had any troubles except for a hijacker giving me a Joyride on Google when I was on my parent's PC...

Well, I'll call you out here. Your development skills must be terrible to not be able to code a website for Opera. You say it cuts corners and is not standards compliant - I say You cut corners in your design and bash Opera for your own inadequency.

Your statement about Standards compliance is false and shows how lacking your knowledge is about it. Maybe something called the Acid2 test may jog your memory or educate you a little. As such a bigshot designer, are you more knowledgable on Opera than say W3schools ? I think not.

While your personal attacks really don't warrant a response, it's obvious that I need to clarify my previous statements.

I have experienced numerous problems with Opera's handling of CSS. These problems would not have occurred had the browser correctly parsed and applied the CSS attributes. The majority of these problems were due to Opera adding extra spacing and pixels around objects when it should not have.

And I'm not the only one who has experienced the problem which intermittently occurs when refreshing a page (images and/or CSS formatting disappearing). This problem persists to this very day in version 9.x. One would think that with so many major versions they could have fixed the problem, but unfortunately that isn't the case.

Aside from these problems (which I admit are mostly nit-picky), I do agree that Opera is faster than IE.

    Actually you are wrong.

Why would anyone code or expect to show "error ridden html", site should not be shown in the first case then.

IE7 is great to code for along with mozilla.

    Ie6 should be shot.

If that is the issue you are getting, there is an issue with the CSS code. From memory the spacing thing was mentioned some time back and Dp Member, Dan Schulz gave some excellent pointers on why the CSS was wrong and how it should have been coded correctly. I suggest giving him a PM as it may be just one bit of code that is causing this.

I have coded sites since 1994 and the only browser right now that gives a headache is IE6. IE8 is supposed to be standards compliant (though recent news does suggest MS may stuff this up with some idiotic meta requirements).

IE7 is great to code for, everything I do displays the same in Opera9, FF2 and IE7. IE6, well, as we all know, that's a whole different story...

I have a strong dislike for I.E becuase I design my sites and look perfect in FF.
Then I take alook in I.E and the text sometime escapes the tables and trails off the page, or some other errors.
Really crappy! Comma MS your I.E rendering engine is so choppy!.
