Google's Page Rank Discussion Thread

Well new sites that have had some backlinks building (at least from my experience) easily jump from PR0 to PR4 or something. What I have notice tho, is that the websites that during the Q4 2007 updated were penalized and had their PR dropped on this PR they did not moved at all (at least to some of the sites I was checking, and still don't comply with Google's policy on links). Seems like the penalized sites that did not removed their paid links or at least added nofollow were like freezed

 

Crazy, i had one... Moved to PR 4.

 

My sites that had exisiting pr before this update either stayed the same or got some pr on internal pages.

My sites that had no pr before this update got pr on some inner pages, most of which have no external links pointing to the page.

It's hard to determine why pages with no backlinks pointing to them get pr while pages with 100-1000 backlinks get pr 0.

 

I can find 110 links to the site, all organic and some not any use that I can see

I dont see any high PR value ones in the list but there are 2 or 3 topically very relevant ones there. With no anchor text and just raw urls (another forum someone posted on)

I just dont understand it though because a site I worked hard on and gained some great high PR links for is stuck on PR2

22,000 backlinks showing in Yahoo. Long term ones. 3 year old site.
SEO'd for only a year or less.

maybe Google rewards not trying to SEO now

 

I don't know, that is kind of strange. If none of the backlinks that lead to your forum site have high PR I'm really not sure where the PR comes from. Maybe Google is changing how it measures PR and this is just a taste of it?

I had a site that went to PR4 in the October update (decent quality backlinks, expected to start around PR2 or so) then it didn't change at all for this last update even though it was promoted some (not extensively) between then and now.

 

one of my sites went from PR4 to PR3 and backlinks from 16 (last 2 years) to backlinks 845, I think they gone crazy.

 

PR is worthless! It does not effect your SERPS which is what matters. I rather have traffic than high PR.

 

Google doesn't gave PR to my older site but had given to the one which was made after it
also back links of the older one are more then newer
newer is the proxy and older was about sportscars
they are 1 and 2 on my sig

 

This isnt about your percieved value of the 'worth of page rank'

it is a thread hopefully where people will list their PR update changes and so we/I can see if there is a pattern or any logic to these changes

You can think of PR like a status symbol.

Very plain guy, geeky and not attractive in the 'usual' way, possible stalker= PR1,2

The guy whos in decent shape but nothing too special = PR3,4

The guy who has been working out and is a real powerhouse with a bit of intelligence added = PR5,6

This guy is CUT UP...and an Armani model to boot....and a MENSA member... very popular in todays materialistic society = PR 7,8

This guy is a GOD of muscle,brains, looks, money and power = PR 9 and PR10

PR can be compared to:

Very plain and goofy girl, no personality at all = PR1, PR2

Quite attractive and pretty = PR3, PR4

Quite a hottie with a great 'bikini' figure and pretty face = PR5, PR6

Cindy Crawford lookalike with more brains added = PR 7, PR8

A combination of the most goddesslike women on the planet, with lots of brains, money and power added on = PR9,PR10

Note: This is just a joke of course

and no one is meant to be offended if you fit the description or PRs (I have PR2 sites! )

but PR bar is pretty much a status symbol in my opinion

It doesnt affect rankings but it does affect the mental state of the PR addict

 

LoL sorry to burst your bubble seodaddy, but sadly the majority of the general public internet users dont even know what is a pr/have no pr toolbar installed/couldnt care less.

And no one bothered to answer my qn that i posted here earlier!! =( Why is it that my inner pages on my blog has pr 3 while my homepage has pr 0?

it was update ten day ago.

 

Pagerank is actually updated more frequently than people think. The pr that is more visible to the public gets updated the least to the advantage of Google

 

my site still remain same... no updates tottally

 

I made an interesting discovery. Exactly 3 months ago I created a brand new website. During the last update I noticed only 1 inner page received a PR1, while all the others including the homepage received a zero.

Yesterday I noticed that the the only page that received a PR was the only page I forgot to place the Google Analytics script on. It's probably a coincidence, but I'm wondering if anyone else had a similar result?

 

Is Google still upadating PR?Henestly! I thought PR is dead .

 

Same here, my sites got updated PR's. one even jumped from 0 - 2

 

I have a site which is still at PR 0 after 2 rounds of PR updates. this site has 1200+ backlinks.

 

my two blogs are at PR3 and PR2 no changes happen but my MSN Live Space blog became PR2 from N/A

 

I agree with you, even my sites haven't got a PR update....
