Is it possible to hide the backlinks?

Hello,
I heard from one of my friend that we can hide the back links. is it true? when people search like link:domain name
they can see our back links counted by google. but if we dont want people to see out back links than is there any way?

please discuss it if any one know about it.

Don't don't its possible to have backlinks... and just not show them. What would the whole idea behind it be?

you are not getting my question, i want to know that when any one search for link:domain name
google will display back links for that domain. now if we want that google should not shows those backlink to public than?
is there any short of things provided by google?

Google shows some of the backlinks with that query not all, to monitor all the backlinks you need to check thru a backlink checker like this one, or this one. You can't hide them.

 

I know that even you can check backlinks by "domainname" in google query. but my question is still remain at it is.

 

People can only ever see a small selection of the backlinks that google has counted by doing a links search on google. The full list is in Webmaster tools, and only the person with access to that for the site can see it. I think Yahoo gives a fuller list - but how do you think you're going to hide it? - the link is on other people's sites; if you don't want your link on their site, ask them to remove it.

Yeah. You can hide most of the backlinks If you don't care about Yahoo and MSN traffic.

How?

Just disable the whole site in robots.txt for Yahoo and MSN.

If you leave Google on , you should still get lots of traffic but Google is hardly displaying any backlinks so you should be protected.

Also , all the 3rd party backlink checkers will stop working as they mostly rely on Yahoo and MSN.

this will not work as people can find your link by "www.yourdomainname.com" in google query.
it is not recommended method as u will lost your ranking in yahoo and msn and traffic is very important with compare to hiding the links

 

if you have control of google then you can otherwise no you cant.

 

There's no need in trying to hide backlinks.

 

My main concern is some time rivals check out back links and get back links from those pages. it will help them to get batter ranks from our sites.
