It had to be the history of the American Civil Rights Act of 1964 that influenced their decision. Isn't it great how America is so far ahead with this civil rights shit?

More reasonably, much of the credit goes to satellite television.

    Thanks Arthur C. Clarke! :)

How are women going to drive wearing a burka?

They wouldn't be able to see where they are going.

She might get lucky and have a religious bigot make internet posting on her behalf, who knows?

That's one of the implementation problems they are facing.

Quoting The Telegraph, "A woman would have to remove the traditional abaya robe to get a clear view behind the wheel."

I'm not sure why Cormac made such an ignorant response to your statement.

That's another serious problem. Sexual assault is a serious problem in Saudi Arabia, because women are afraid to speak to their families or the police about the assault because they might be convicted of the crime of being sexually assaulted. In addition, women are not considered "witnesses" under Islamic law. If only the woman witnessed the rape, then the rape effectively did not occur.

I agree. It's too bad that people like Cormac are too blinded by hatred to share the good news.

The UAE is better, but it still has a long way to go.
