What is the best looking, in terms of design AND most customizable link directory script that a normal person can afford? Other than PHP Link Directory...
Hi! Did anyone used directory script from Hotwebtools.com? It looks good and has some nice features but when I uploaded it to my server it is not working properly. In the help file they refer to this forum for support but I could not find anything...
Definitely have to second that one - Stuart has a great directory script that I've recommended hundreds of times over without reservation and I've never heard back a single negative comment.
the free script download is here: http://hotwebtools.com/TopSite/ They use this script to run own directory
I recently found another free script for advanced directory with a lot of features. Directory looks very attractive but support stinks. I had some problems with installation and posted few questions on support forum but never got any answers. Anyone tried "Link Management Assistant" from onlinemarketingtoday.com?
Totally agree with honey and wrmineo, the site-sift script is the best. The new update is great. I'm currently rebuilding my complete directory (based on biz-directory script) to the site-sift script. More info about the site-sift script go here: http://www.scripts.site-sift.com/ or the forums: http://forum.site-sift.com/site-sift-listings.html
Which one it was? Installed shortly. It seemed to me better for link exchange than pure directory, but it has some strong points too, like DMOZ import. Maybe someone who tried for a longer time would be able to fill in more details.
I like Safe Directory! It's better than any other I have seen. Listings are really cool. Listings Include... Site Name Page Link Page Cache Size (last time updated) Total Outward Links (clickabe view) Page Thumbnail (clickable to view) Unsafe Script Notices Spam Ranking 3rd Party tracking Notice Ads Notice Meta Keyword Rank Body Keyword Rank W3C validated It the new breed of web directory, where the visitor is finally free to decide if they really want to visit a site that may be unsafe or just filled with spam. da!
This thread states : Best looking directory script. IMHO, it's not about the script, that makes the best looking directory, but about each directory owner, and how he designs his templates, for his script. As looks, i think all directories are the same. Pure example : 1. Standard directory template - Modified user template. 2. Standard directory template - Modified user template
Safe Directory was designed for educational networks and is used at thousands of schools around the world. Now it's going public. The developer discussed this at resent PHP workshop where I was given a copy. It's the best directory system I have ever seen. What I mean by (best directory) is that it is designed for the user safety before anything else. It also has a awesome Perl indexing back end that can index 500,000 + pages a day, MySQL, Oracle databases are supported. It's front end is fully PHP template driven, it has so many admin and user features. The developers site will be launching March 1, but I can PM you the authors email if you want it!... Screen of search listing (green template) http://www.lovemedammit.com/sd/crop_1.png da!
I certainly enjoyed this one : http://www.lovemedammit.com/1.php Can't seem to find those type in Bucuresti anymore. As for the Safe Directory, where can we read more about it ? A link please ?
The picture is good. Plus it gave me my city automatically! Either that or the webmaster lives here. Back to best looking link directory. Yes, the script does not matter, it is the template, the customization that works. You can have the best script in the world, but if you do not customize it, it is ugly. There are a lot of directories out there where the webmaster never did a thing, just uploaded the script as is and left it alone. A good looking directory will get more visitors than a plain jane ugly site. But then, that holds true for all types of websites.
