how about writing article in your local country first. I assume that you don;t live in the top country like usa and uk. let say you love in barbados, write about barbados, minister scandal or anything that can trigger people to search it in google. if you use the wordpress free hosting, then good, tag the article will help

It would take roughly 1 month and the bandwidth depends all on your site. For me 1000 impressions would use 100mb bandwidth so 3gb per month.
if you are talking about organic search engine, it is still depends on your article and niche you are covering. some people got index in google less than 24 hours by utilizing digg and others social bookmarking site. competition is one of the toughest area too. about your bandwidth you will need at least 10gb monthly or more.
