Your question has a fatal flaw, "finding myself a girlfriend"... my friend, this implies that you will find only one! That is just not right, maybe one at a time...

I'd say that lots of people here seem to have had bad relationships so far. If you view a gf/bf as nothing more than a hassle while you endlessly struggle to keep it happy, then you've so far had bad experiences.

From my own experiences:
If it takes more than your company to keep her happy, something's wrong.
If you don't feel happy for making her feel happy, something's wrong.
If having her around all the time feels like an annoyance, something's wrong.

So yes, bluemouse2, find yourself a girlfriend, but don't settle for just any girlfriend. Find someone that genuinely makes you happy, otherwise move on.
