Differences between Google and Yahoo

Other than the google sandbox, what are the major differences between google and yahoo search ranking? how come i rank so high on yahoo, but not on google?

 

The reason you rank so high on Yahoo is because you face a lot less competition. SEO for Google is a lot fiercer than SEO for Yahoo.

 

also, yahoo uses a different algorithm than google... some stuff is more important to one than another..

 

For example if two pages are given to be exactly the same (forget dupe content for a second) and one uses rss and the other doesnt.

Then the one with rss will rank better in yahoo. As yahoo see's rss as a form of authority (who knows why, probably to do with news sources etc etc).

why would there be less competition? google and yahoo are both searching the same web right?

Brad, maybe with yahoo you don't lose rank from linking out (like you do with google)?

 

You dont loose rank from linking out in Google,

Actually it has been proven that linking to authority sites in your niche can give you a boost in SERPS in Google. Its a large mis-conception that linking out will damage your SERPS.

Unless of course you are linking to banned sites and bad sites (ffa's etc etc).
