I thought I'd share this with you guys, see what you think. The graph is for Google keywords only to my site, now around the end of december I gave up with Adwords as it was costing too much for very little gain. Ignore the anomolous spike in the middle, that's probably due to a post-christmas surge and I was messing around in google looking for keywords for my site (and clicking on it!), but around the end of december, beginning of January I did some smallish tweaks to the site, changing the meta descriptions to be unique to each page, and tweaking the on-page content a bit. and since Jan 7th I've noticed a steady incread and shelf in keyword activity. I know nearly 60 hits per day from google isn't that much, but it's quite a niche site, and obviously I'd like more traffic, so I can drive more sales, but this graph shows you what difference a little tweak to page content can seem to do in a short space of time.
Everything counts eh. For people that think meta tags don't count, google reads everything. The weight they put on them is unknown and unknown in the future. After time google might trust your page and put a more heavy emphasis on them, I don't know. But meta tags are definitely read and play a role. Congrats OP, glad to see the traffic.
I should not have shown such results by tweaking around the meta description because it has been proven that meta description need not be unique and it does not affect SERPs. It maybe the unique content that is doing the trick.
Yes I agree. Tweaking your meta tags and description will provide slight changes in Google search results. Also try changing your keyword positioning in your keyword meta tag. That will also make a difference
wow, I dunno that. I thought meta tags only affect for the first time indexed, especially for Google.
Tell me, on 11th of january, did you PR increase? Like from 0 to 3? Cause I had the same thing with one of my sites... It has about 30 pages, most of them are duplicate content, almost no backlinks, etc. I had like 1-2 visitors daily from Google. And in october, when it got from PR 0 to PR 3 the visitors suddenly increased to about 15-20 / daily. And I haven't done ANYTHING.
Philopoemen - my page rank changed on recently (past couple of weeks) and I saw increased traffic starting on that day.
I think the change maybe seaonal... my site as the same to you,some days about 30 IP from G,and other days maybe 40,or less. it depends on that day how many people search it..
