I just bought a domain, which is 1 letter different than a domain that went for $5k.

I bought it like 5mins ago and its not showing me in the whois.

How long does it take for this to happen?

Im used to this wait but im afraid I made a mistake and I wont own this domain.

Just go to another registrar try to register the same domain, if it can't go through even though it showed that it is available, it means you had succeeded in the previous registration.

what you can do is check the whois records with the registrar of your domain. this should showup instantly. you can also check the whois record from the registry of that TLD.

It may take some time for all dns servers to ruplicate their records.

Better register it just in case someone else take it, nowadays whois checking can be risky.

it take longer than 5 minute to process. Did you get a email from your first register yet?

it is possible for you to register it from other company at this moment, but they will fail since it is already registered.

This just happened to me today with godaddy, took about 4 hours til it showed that the names I purchased were no longer available, and for the names to show in my account.

you are not the owner of a domain untill it is registered to you. you may want to register it with another domain registratino company atleast to have ownership of the 5K domain,
Then when letshost.ie trys to approve your order it will not go through because you have registered it with another provider.

You can use any other domain registration services, check my sig to see these services.

    best of luck

Just because another domain like it went for $5k doesn't mean yours is worth that much.. or even close.

food.com and fo0d.com are two totally different names. The first one? Millions. The second one? Maybe $15.

Don't base it off of the other domain unless it's just a different extension. Beyond that, it's hit or miss. It could have been a very happy end user for all you know.

And yes, all 4 letter .coms are taken and have decent resale value but the fact remains you don't have one, you have a LLLN.com or some variation.

The 5K is probably based on factors like age, traffic, and backlinks. Number hacks aren't that valuable imho.

Totally agree with what Soccerplayur012 said, your domain is totally different than the one which sold for $5k, besides what you are registering is not a 4 letter .com it is a 4 character .com and there are plenty of those available for hand reg.
