Hey all! Lately I have been considering article submission. Obviously I want this to work as best it can, so I have a few questions before I launch my attack. I understand the point of article marketing is to get both targeted traffic and backlinks to specific anchor text, also helpful for deep backlinks. Should my articles be written purely for marketing? I understand duplicate content, so if my article is indexed first on my site, Google sees me as the authority. Does this mean I should just use this article that is on my website? Or will it degrade if multiple sources use the article? Another question is how much I should submit. I notice quite a few article submission services, to up to 400 article sites. Is it better to just submit to a few good sites? In summary: • Should I write individual articles (articles that do not appear on my site) for article submission? • If I submit to 20+ article sites, should I differ the article? • Is it best to submit to quality directory sites or is hundreds just as good? • Is there a list of directories sorted by PR? I saw one the other day, but forgot to bookmark it. Hopefully you guys can help me out.
yes, you should absolutely differ the article, i have a multiple content checker bookmarked that i use called dupecop (http://www.dupecop.com/duplicate-content-checker.php) this is a script that checks how unique your article is off the base article, you may find that helpful. If you do not differ the articles the value of your articles goes down as it is duplicate content. Out of curiosity what niche is your website in.
I would reccomend first publishing the article on your site and then distributing it to any amount of directories you wish. Hundreds is good, it has always worked for me, but then again there are some articles i have submitted to just 1 directory and that has also worked well. I saw a submission service on sitepoint earlier today listed in the services section, but im not sure about the details. If you want to submit to just 1 directory, i suggest ezinearticles. Good Luck
I've heard of people doing this, but ezinearticles even reccomends just publishing the article on your website and then submitting the same article to the directory Just read their details.... I think the content spinner is a waste of time for gaining backlinks, although it may help the serps for each article distributed.

I would write articles that do not appear on my site. I prefer posting an article to just 1 article directory. I doubt submitting article to 20 article directories. Search engines will regard the other 19 as duplicate content, plus the time spend submitting to other 29 article directories is better spend elsewhere. Tip: use search feature in this forum.
