I don't like pedophiles. How about you? Do you have "AFFIRMATIVE VIEW" on pedophilia as DMOZ formulates it?

We know. And the change most of you want will never happen.
The amount of complaints seen here is just telling us that on average we are doing a good job.
The moment the complaining stops DMOZ editors will start worrying because something must be wrong.

Why do you sit back here and peddle endless paranoid speculation about the ODP?

You'd think if you were an individual to be taken seriously, you might check some of your facts before coming up with wild accusations.

Ah.. a typical gworld argument... you don't have anything firm to come up with, so you accuse the person who you disagree with of people of pedophile. And you think your posts are taken seriously because....?

Google has more power than the editors do, they own part of AOL, maybe next you will be insulting them  :D

Are they too peddling endless paranoia and speculation about crime on the internet  :D

They must be making it all up for ratings season like we are to promote Digital Point....

I didn't know that you were so interested in my work that you know what typical Gworld argument looks like. ;)

You asked me what was my problem and I answered that I don't like pedophilia. But since you are defending the existence of such sites in DMOZ, is it really illogical to draw conclusion that may be you have "affirmative view" on pedophilia?

Google has porn.. lots of porn.. and I can bet you that it lists those sites you mentioned earlier. Why is Google not your target? Or Yahoo? Or any other directory or search engine that you can use to find porn.

The reason why you're having a go at the ODP for having porn is that you hate the ODP for reasons I can only speculate about. You're not on some moral campaign against pornography, you're just indulging in a spate of ODP bashing for your own personal amusement.

You are right in my case, I am not on moral campaign against pornography, I am on moral campaign against corruption and PEDOPHILES.

I did state that the search engines are fighting porn, I know they are because the government is looking closely at them as they are looking at DMOZ and this issue, by the way it is in the national news and lawyers are reading this!

If I were you I would be moving instead of arguing with us!

So, I have to agree with all 5.2 million sites listed in the ODP? Right.

Something I don't understand gworld - since you obviously hold the ODP in very low regard, I find it odd that you've copied so much of it for your own websites.

Let's not get off track here. Don't start the "But I can find porn on Yahoo and Google" argument. Let's stick with cleaning up DMOZ for now.

If you mean tuneauto.com, that was the result of argument with one of the editors, I think alucard in DP. In another argument with editors I bought 4 DMOZ listed sites that I still have. If you want I can find the thread for you.
But if you are upset that there is no mention of DMOZ on that site, I can put this on the site:

DMOZ- The authoritative source for pedophiles, incest, rape and torture porn.

Would you like me to? ;)

He didn't buy listings - he says he bought sites that were already listed. There is a significant difference. The first would indicate corruption in DMOZ, while the second is evidence of the type of webmaster that makes it difficult for the ordinary website owner to get his/her site listed in a "reasonable" amount of time.

Sorry, I just have a general comment to make. The presonal atacks are counter-productive peops. DMOZ editors coming to this thread with guns a blazing simply re-kindles what has already been said and acknowledged. I am trying to see this from both sides of the fence and think I am. So far there are 3 DMOZ editors that I have termendious respect for Brizzie, sidjf and volcano. They have approached this the right way...opened minded with their guns at home.

With any human organization there will ALWAYS be mistakes and corruption, that's a given. Here's one of the best examples. And ours it not far away from that. Hopefully some of the more obvious issues are being looked at. As far as this thread being completely BS, with no evidence to back up claims...THAT'S BS. Anyone that sees it differently, frankly, can't see the forest through the trees.

I am all up for opened debate and discussion, but when DMOZ editors come here and say things like:
or some other 'personal' comments that were made it's a little scary knowing that you have taken the time to actually investigate the people posting instead of some of the questionable *cough* content kindly brought to your attention that you were *probably* unaware of.

We are now beating a dead horse. ALL DMOZ editors should be able to use this thread as an opportunity to make a good thing better, IMO.

Yes, they have been great. Let's also make a list of the ones that haven't acted great....hmmm....let's start with lomcr who red repped me for my nazi comment two posts back. Gworld, if your listening, remember you wanted to start a rep war with DMOZ editors. I think lmocr should be at the top of your sh*t list.

Minstrel is not the devil, he has 3 teenage kids, some of the other members have kids, SarahK has kids, she is an editor and one of our finest members here!

So there are vested interests here other than DMOZ bashing as people like to call what goes on here at DP.

It is not true, yes some of it goes on, but I have started threads giving members the opportunity to suggest improvements too and this very thread has improved the quality of DMOZ!

So all this DP is worthless crap is exactly that, worthless BS.....

Proof that we are not all bad people and want to help DMOZ....

    http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=12671&page=7

Yeah, I came out and said fire all the editors and replace them with automation for a reason.....
