I receive this when I search for results for similar keywords too quickly. But I stop a while and it is back to normal, won't take too long, or just close your browser and try again.

It appeared a few months back once in a while, maybe I look like a virus, need to look at myself in the mirror again :) . Anyway it is a minor inconvenience.

Try Google on a different browser if it doesn't work.

it is because of searching same query and repeating more by using same internet ip with in short duration.

This came up for me when I was checking to see what number a url was indexed at on a certain keyword. After hitting next page several times the message came up, I was scanning for a title I knew so was obviously 'faster' than your average surfer.

It must have looked like automated script to Google so I was temporarily blocked, this all makes sense as Google don't like people using automated index checkers such as Webposition Gold etc...

From Google: "Google does not recommend the use of products such as WebPosition Gold that send automatic or programmatic queries to Google", this extract can be found here.

Sometimes if you click on 'page 9' of the results from page 1 etc then this triggers this page. This is becuase it is not natural human behaviuor and therefore this gets flagged up as possibly spyware or an automated tool.

As long as your not doing anythign wrong you should be ok and the problem will go away.

    Hope it helps.

well this things happens most of the time with me. The main cause behind this is the use of automated tools to search google queries for a particular site. like searching where www.example.com is coming for kw "example". it happens faster if you look for more pages.. like looking 100+ results..
google have implemented this to minimize their bandwidth usage.
