I've seen some linkbait sites do rather well. I've never tried it, I did some articles on a topic of one of my sites about 2 years ago (dating) and they are still circulating and adding links. Articles are like a disease that keep on spreading if they are good and have a decent amount of interest. However, some websites will post your articles, remove your links, repost the articles as their own, etc. But, alot of them will still "stick" and circulate the web. Good luck!

Not much. Virtually no link juice, but contributes to volume.

Yes, you are right but linkbaiting could kill your website too. Linkbaiting often puts negative statements about hot things at the moment so you must be very careful. Sometimes your website will be popular but popular in "negative" way...

 

in linkbuilding (unless it's negative textlink) all publicity is good publicity.
