Yesterday it was posted a new article at the “official” Inside Adsense blog focusing on “blogtimization”, as they say. Just thought it could be useful to some of you.

Its interesting, but its a shame they don't really mention what you need to do to stop the ads being about Blogs, rather than what your blog is about. Lets face it, one of the most frustrating things as a blogger is getting relevant ads to your blog.

Use section targeting to have relevant ads on blog sites. https://www.google.com/support/adsense/bin/answer.py?answer=23168&sourceid=aso&subid=en_asblog&medium=link

What is that clickheretofind dot com website (the click here link)? Your comments have intrigued me but I#m too scared to open it in the office.

I want to have the layout with the 2 medium rectangles embedded in my blog content, maybe one after the first post, then one under the fold. Problem is that when I add the code for the medium rectangle after the first post in my template, it tries to insert the same code after EVERY post. So I end up with a post, an ad, a post, an ad, and then posts followed by large blank spaces because it won't let you put more ads than the allowed amount. I am using Blogspot. I am fairly good at editing my template, but ths one has me stumped. Any help ? Much appreciated. Thank you for your time.

One problem I'm currently having is that, while using Blogger, I can't put the Google Adsense script IN the blog post.

I can only add it to the template.

And which is better? Ad at the top of the best, right after the title? or at the bottom when they're done reading the content?

Try configuring your blog so that you only get 3 posts on the front page.

I'm going to have to disagree on the comment bar & ad link thing. I mean, it's probably too soon to tell (I'll keep it up a little longer for more data), but out of 115 clicks, only ONE was the ad link above the comment bar (as suggested by the article).

Leaderboard is doing the best followed by the skyscraper.

it is not just puting the normal adsense code inside the template. go google search a ADSENSE PLUGIN. it will auto insert adsense code after every first post, second post or third post or all 3.

Problem with putting the code in your posts on the index page is you will soon lose relevancy, especially if you post daily or a few times a week. Say your top latest post is about potatoes, and the robot picks up the content - that's its job done for a week or two. In the meantime, you post about onions, carrots, broccoli and mushrooms.

Besides being nice for a fry up, you top post is now about mushrooms, whilst the ads are still about potatoes. However, potatoes is now down the page and has no ad attached to it. In my opinion, you're better off not putting the ads in the post - only on the index page. They won't be relevant if you post lots. Yup in the post for the permalink page, but on the index and archive pages, its best avoided... :)
