StumbleUpon - Is it good?

As you know, there're lots of services here offering Stumble on a specific URL. I used it for just 2 times and saw no effect. Do you think the so-call Stumble Service is effective to attract traffic to your website?

StumbleUpon gets me more traffic than other social bookmarking sites (such as digg or reddit etc.). StumbleUpon as a possible way to get traffic is fine.

Now... any stumble SERVICES might NOT be worth it. You tried it 2 times with no effect... so no much point doing that. It's pretty much as getting random people to visit your site... no much point in that. (At least that's pretty much the service I've seen)

I think that stumble exchanging is going to blow up in everyone's face someday. It's cheating the system. I could be wrong, but I'm not willing to chance it.

As for Stumbleupon itself, it's worth trying for an interesting site, for the hopes of possibly getting more faithful visitors/readers. Beyond that it's not something I'd count on or put a lot of effort into.

I think Stumble is good, I do the occasional exchange on here, but I wouldn't join a service which was a pure Stumble ring. It's just like digg - if someone asks for a digg here, I'll read it, and digg it if I like it. I also use digg and stumble as a normal user.

I think that pure exchange site users get their stumble 'vote value' decreased when stumble catches on. A genuine stumble from a genuine user is worth a lot more - i've only read that though, never managed to test it myself.

StumbleUpon brings me in quite a bit of traffic to a few sites. Although it isn't the best traffic, it does still count as traffic ;)

Personally, stumble traffic isn't the best quality traffic. I'm having great success with "shocker" like pages. Pages that are weird, odd, piss people off. You know things that shock people. It doesn't have the same effect with sites that are "normal".

SU brings me lots of traffic. Its best to use CPM ads since SU traffic does too convert too well with adsense.

Yeah I have a site that gets about 400 uniques a day from stumbleupon but they don't convert at all.

StumbleUpon definitely can generate traffic. Not convinced it's very good traffic, however.

I have not had much luck with StumbleUpon. You have really work the tags to get good traffic. It's no better then getting traffic from a traffic exchange. I have heard that the weird category works the best.

I seldom use Stumble these days, most my sites are local based.

Then in general, Stumble draws traffic in a blink of eye so that visitor cannot save anything in their mind about our website, right?

SU helps me a lot for the traffic but it's not really valuable. So I think it's general, almost of them is not target visitors.

Does anybody know of a good guide or an article that talks about getting traffic from StumbleUpon?

SU can bring good amounts of traffic... I used to work at getting it to my site...

The problem with stumble traffic though is that the CTR is slightly poorer since most people click the stumble button to leave your site rather than an ad, but what's more important is that a lot of SU traffic can LOWER the value of your other website traffic and you will earn LESS than you normally would without it.

As an example, if I get 400 uniques on a regular day (SE and other links) and I get 15 clicks... earn $7

With SU, I get 2500 uniques, 30 clicks... earn $4

These are very realistic numbers and similar to what I was seeing a while back. I'd say it's nice to boost your website stats but in the end it might hurt your income if you rely on programs like Adsense to earn from your website.

    Cheers

I've found a lot of interesting blogs using SU.

I'm pretty certain if you content is worth it people will stay ;)

It seems to me to be more of a social thing, so if you site has funny stuff, entertainment types it might do well because the traffic will definitely come. But if you have a serious niche - debt, everyday products, informational, not so much...

I have gotten traffic for sure - just not any clickthroughs - homepage and gone!

Could it be I don't have the proper grabbers, maybe, but for 10 different sites...

On an entertainment type site, at least clicks to another page before leaving..

So if you sell ads on your site and want to show some real traffic in the statistics..do it!

Stumbleupon traffic is useless. At least from a business site standpoint.
