What are the signs and symptoms of an Adsense account being smart priced? How do you detect you are being smart priced?

    P.S.
Just to confirm what I know about how it works. :D

When your site contains high payed keywords like Forex and have great traffic to your site.
As a result, you will have great earnings( smart price).

Hopefully you were joking because that answer is way off. Read what Google says.

Smart pricing is quite easy to detect. Run your site through GOogle's keyword tool and check how high the advertiser competition is for the individual keywords. If for the majority of them it is high, and you're receiving .1-.2 cents per click, I can almost guarantee you're being smart priced.

If you want to rid yourself of the smart pricing, you need to increase your CTR. It's generally a good idea to have it at 3%+. Remove ads from pages that see little clicks and remove excess ad blocks. In about a week, your account should out of smart-pricing mode.

It's not a matter of click through rate, but those clicks that convert to sales, or whatever the advertiser is trying to achieve with their ad. If your site converts well for advertisers, your clicks will have more value. If not, you get smart priced down.

The most obvious symptom of really bad smart-pricing is when a loved-one finds you dangling from a rope in your garage..

That is true. I have been smartpriced. When you have an unusual day of high earnings, adsense will remove the high CPM ads the next day. After your earnings stabilize, the ads will show up again. My day to day earnings vary as much as 800% from smart pricing. I have experience 1.3 cents a click average which is unusually low for adsense users.

ROFL, when i started with Adsense (and had no idea about other monetization methods) my ex-gf often put me between Google and her. Stuff like "Would you rather kill yourself because of a possible Google Ban/smartprice/revenue loss etc. or incase i leave you? I always said i'd only kill myself when Google bans me, lol.

Apparently my opinion led to a long overdue closage of the relationship. :)

BTT, sorry: I dont know, nor do i care if i've been smartpriced, i just know that i went from 20/day to... well approx. 3/day. After the click-able area change in december i thought.. its time to drop them. GA is now supplemental income and i realized what great other oppurtunities you can find for any niche online.

I am still not OT, i better go.
