Old adsense code and low earnings?

As some of you may have seen that since mid-december, eCPM has gone down by about 30-50% for some people.

We all know the good old stories about advertisers out for vacation, low budgets, no season etc. Lets leave the textbook theories aside for the time being.

During this time, as most of your are aware adsense made changes to adsense code and now it gives a code with adslot.

Now am wondering this who are still using the old code are suffering from low eCPM for not changing the code?

I guess that shouldn't be the case but if you are getting lower eCPM lately please post if you are still using the old adsense code.

So we can come to a conclusion.

This is really not my theory but just wanted to verify with others.

Hmm, this is an interesting thought. I too had a huge, I mean HUGE drop in earnings, and I am using mostly old code. In fact the one site that I recently redesigned ( new adsense code ) is the only one earning it's usuall.

I am very interested to see what others say.

Yeah. It striked me lately that since the code has changed, the earning have started to decline for no real reason.

I'm using all old code and my earnings are next to nothing, but I can't get it to properly generate the new code. Ads don't even display if I use new code.

Same here old code with plummeting stats. I never knew there was a new code. Do I just regenerate a code as I always have done before to get the new one?

godmode, taking a look at my stats, i really don't see a difference. this is with sites still using the old code vs sites using the new code. i'll take a site using the old code and update it and report back.

I have 9 sites in the same niche, 3 use old code the others use new. I have for sure seen a drop in the earnings from the old code. Im getting 5 cent clicks which is horrible. Its hard to compare because the sites with old code get more impressions then the ones with new code. However i used to always get a day out of the week where my site would get a huge jump in earnings per click and now im not getting that. I think im going to switch back to new code for all sites.

I'm still using the older code, and have undergone a rather severe decline in earnings. :(
I would really like publishers who are using the new code to comment on their revenues.

Thanks everyone for the response. Now except FKA everyone seems to agree that old code seems to lowering our eCPM.

FKA we are waiting for your feedback. Yes, and others who just switched to new code can comment whether they seen any increase.

My earnings dropped but then went back to where they should be and much more! I think Christmas might have had an effect since I wasn't targeting that market.
